신입생 적응 지원 프로그램 효과성 분석

국문 초록

이 연구는 2019년 1학기에 새롭게 운영되었던 K대학의 신입생 세미나 프로그램의 효과성을 검증하고 향후 프로그램의 운영방안을 개선하고자 진행되었다. K대학 신입생 1,560명이 설문에 참여했으며 불성실한 응답 90명을 제외한 1,470명의 데이터가 분석에 사용되었다. 대학 생활 적응은 Baker와 Siryk(1989)가 개발한 대학생활적응척도(SACQ)를 사용하였고 프로그램에 대한 만족도는 단일 문항의 5점 Likert 척도로 실시하였다. 분석 방법은 대학 적응에 대한 신입생 세미나 프로그램 참여의 영향을 검증하기 위해 단순회귀분석을 실시하였고, 신입생 세미나 프로그램이 프로그램의 만족도에 따라 대학 적응에 다른 영향을 미치는지를 검증을 위해 조절회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 신입생 세미나 프로그램에 참여하는 비율이 높을수록 대학적응을 잘 한다는 결과를 발견하였다. 또한 신입생 세미나 프로그램에 많이 참여할수록 대학 적응에 도움을 주지만, 프로그램에 대한 만족도가 낮을 때보다 프로그램에 대한 만족도가 높을 경우 대학 적응에 더 도움이 된다는 것으로 나타났다. 이 연구에서는 학생들의 대학 적응을 돕기 위해서는 신입생 세미나와 같은 적응 지원 프로그램이 확대되어야 할 필요가 있고 학습자 중심 프로그램 운영을 통해 수업 만족도를 높이는 것이 필요하다고 제안하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of freshman seminar and develop strategies for improving program quality. A total of 1,470 first-year college students completed surveys at the end of their first semester. The scales of student adjustment were adapted from the SACQ(Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire). Program satisfaction was measured with the self-reported question using a 5-point Likert scale. Regression analysis was employed to examine if freshman seminar was related to college adjustment. Also moderated regression analysis was performed to determine if freshman seminar had other effects on college adjustment according to program satisfaction. Results of the regression analysis suggest that the higher the percentage of participation in the freshman seminar, the better the students adjust to college. In addition, higher satisfaction with the freshman seminar is found to be more helpful for college adjustment than lower satisfaction with the program. It is necessary to increase freshman seminar course so that students quickly adjust to college life. This study also suggests that it is necessary to develop student satisfaction by offering student-centered programs.
