자기성찰을 위한 학부생들의 대집단 엔카운터 경험에 관한 탐색적 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 대집단 엔카운터를 경험한 학부생의 체험을 전반적으로 탐색하고, 대집단 엔카운터를 통한 다양한 대학교육의 가능성을 넓히는 기초자료를 제공하는 목적이 있다. 연구문제는 첫째, 대집단 엔카운터에 참여한 학부생들은 집단에서 무엇을 경험했는가? 둘째, 대집단 엔카운터에 참여한 학부생들은 무엇을 알게 되고, 어떠한 변화를 경험했는가? 셋째, 대집단 엔카운터에 참여한 학부생들이 경험한 문제점과 한계점은 무엇인가? 이다. 현상학 기반의 질적연구로 진행되었으며, 서울에 소재한 4년제 여자대학교에 재학 중인 학생들로 학부 과정 중 집단상담 강의를 수강하고 있는 수강생들을 대상자로 하였다. 반구조화된 질문지를 통해 자료를 얻었으며, 다수의 주관적인 체험을 범주화하여 공통의 주제와 그들의 ‘생생한 경험’을 살펴볼 수 있는 합의적 질적 연구의 수정본(Consensual Qualitative Research-Modified) ‘CQR-M’을 사용하여 분석했다. 자료 분석 결과 16개의 범주가 도출되었으며, 1) 대집단의 도전, 2) 이슈를 다룰 수 있는 힘을 찾는 과정, 3) 내 삶의 주체성 회복의 세 영역으로 묶을 수 있었다. 본 연구는 탐색적 연구로써 대집단 엔카운터에 관한 기초자료를 제공하고, 연구결과를 바탕으로 개인의 자기성찰과 다양한 교육의 가능성으로서의 대집단 엔카운터를 논의하며 후속 연구를 위한 제안을 하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explore the experiences of undergraduate students’ large group encounter participation to provide basic understanding of large group experiences and the possibilities of various modes of university education. The research questions posed were: First, what did the undergraduates who participated in the large encounter group generally experience? Second, what did they find out and what changes did they experience? Third, what were the problems and the limitations reported by them? This research used a phenomenological qualitative research method. The participants were attending a certain women’s university in Seoul, taking a group counseling course. The data was obtained through a semi-structured questionnaire, analyzed by Consensual Qualitative Research-Modified (CQR-M), which analyzes numerous subjective experiences, and categorizes and examines the process of change. As a result, 16 categories were derived, which were grouped into 3 domains: 1) the challenge of the large group, 2) the process of finding the authority/power to deal with issues, and 3) the independent recovery of my life. This study is an exploratory study which is intended to provide basic understanding of the large encounter group experiences. Based on the results, we discuss the large group encounter as a possible way to improve individual self-awareness and various aspects of education. We also provide ideas for future research.
