국문 초록

杆城의 仙遊潭은 고려시대 이래 관동 지방의 대표적인 명승으로 회자된 공간이다. 전국에 여러 선유담이 있었지만 이곳 선유담이 가장 유명한 명소로 이름을 떨쳤다. 그러나 오늘날 선유담을 기억하는 이는 많지 않다. 시간의 흐름과 풍광의 변화로 인해 사실상 잊힌 공간으로 전락한 상황이다. 이 글에서는 선유담의 기록을 분석해 향유의 역사를 밝히고 명승적 가치를 조명하며 이곳을 읊은 여러 시문을 검토하였다. 아울러 선유담의 지도와 그림에 주목하여 그 문화사를 조명하고자 하였다. 선유담은 安軸이 시를 지은 이후 조선 전기 관찬지리에 수록되며 이름을 얻었다. 조선 후기에는 선유담을 감상하기 위한 駕鶴亭·幽閒亭 등의 정자가 들어섰다. 선유담은 독특한 지형으로 정숙한 멋을 지닌 공간으로 회자되었고, 여름이면 순채가 가득 자라 이목을 사로잡았으며, 이름처럼 신선세계와 같은 신비로운 아취를 자랑했다. 조선시대 선유담을 유람한 이들의 시문을 보면, 선유담의 아름다움을 노래하고 신선의 자취를 회상하며 오랜 시간을 머물렀던 면모 등을 확인할 수 있다.

영문 초록

Seonyudam(仙遊潭) of Ganseong(杆城) is a space that is said to be a representative scenic spot in the Gwandong region since the Goryeo Dynasty. There were many of Seonyudam in the whole country, but it became one of the most famous attractions in the country. However, there is few people who remember Seonyudam. It is a situation that Seonyudam has become a forgotten space due to the change of scenery over time. This paper highlighted the enjoyment history and the value as a place of scenic beauty by analyzing the records of Seonyudam, and reviewed various poems which recited Seonyudam. In addition, an attention was paid to the maps and paintings of Seonyudam to focus on the cultural history. Seonyudam was named by including a poem of Anchuk(安軸) to Official Geography in the former Joseon Dynasty. In the late Joseon Dynasty, pavilions such as Gahakjeong(駕鶴亭)·Yuhanjeong(幽閒亭) and etc. were introduced to enjoy Seonyudam. Seonyudam was known for the space which had virtuous smartness with its unique topography, and it attracted attention as a water shield plant always grown in summer, so that it boasted mysterious charm such as the world of celestial being like its name. When reviewing the poems of those who visited Seonyudam during the Joseon Dynasty, the aspect that they stayed for a long time while singing the beauty of Seonyudam and looking back the trace of a celestial being can be found.
