부여 능산리 서고분군 출토 금제오각형장식에 대한 고찰

국문 초록

최근 발굴조사가 이루어진 부여 능산리 서고분군(2호분)에서는 금제오각형장식 유물이 출토되었다. 유물은 작고 일부에 불과하지만 이제까지 백제 유적에서 출토된 사례가 없는 것이다. 유물은 문양이 다양하게 나타나고 제작기법에서도 특징이 뚜렷하다. 유물이 출토된 2호분은 서고분군 중 가장 잘 치석된 석재로 축조되었고, 구조적으로 능산리 중앙고분군의 동하총(벽화 존재)과 비슷한 평천장(단면 방형) 석실묘이다. 본고에서는 금제오각형장식이 어떠한 유물의 일부였는지 관련 자료를 중심으로 검토하고, 제작기법이나 문양에는 어떠한 특징이 있는지 살펴보면서 능산리 서고분군(1, 2호분)의 시간적인 위치와 계통, 동하총과의 관계를 파악해보았다. 금제오각형장식 유물은 도굴갱에서 수습되어 그 용도를 잘 알 수 없는 상황이다. 유물의 형태는 평면 오각형, 횡단면 배부분 편제형에 가까우며, 내부는 비어 있어서 함께 수습된 다른 유물들, 그리고 평양 석암리 9호분 등의 금제모자환두소도 등의 유물과 비교해볼 때 철제도자의 칼집 끝장식(초미금구)으로 추정된다. 유물은 금선이나 금알갱이를 누금하여 문양을 표현하였으며, 적색 안료인 진사를 사용하여 색깔을 내고 있다. 전·후면과 양 측면에는 간략화된 문양이 장식되어 있는데 주문양은 용문과 쌍조(봉황 또는 주작)문, 보조문양은 팔메트문, 산악문, 여백문양은 운문 등이 확인된다. 일부 외곽에는 작은 원문과 삼각의 거치문이 둘러져 있다. 백제에서 누금이나 진사를 이용한 제작기법은 주로 웅진기 무령왕릉, 사비기 능산리사지 등의 금제유물에서 확인된다. 문양 중 외곽문양인 거치문과 작은 원문도 마찬가지이다. 주문양, 보조문양, 여백문양의 내용이나 구성은 웅진기 무령왕릉 동탁은잔, 사비기 능산리사지 금동대향로, 외리 문양전 등에서도 보이는 것이지만, 용문과 쌍조(봉황 또는 주작)문의 세부적인 모습, 후면의 쌍조(봉황 또는 주작)문과 팔메트문, 산악문, 운문 등의 문양 구성은 평양 호남리 사신총, 강서대묘 등 고구려의 사신도 고분벽화와 관련되는 것으로 추정된다. 따라서 이 유물의 시기는 6세기 중엽 이후, 대체로 후엽으로 추정된다. 따라서 동하총과 서2호분은 고구려의 벽화고분의 영향으로 나타났으며, 그 중 2호분을 포함한 서고분군은 소위 동하총식 고분이 확산되면서 나타난 것으로 볼 수 있겠다.

영문 초록

Rare gold pentagonal ornament artifacts were excavated at the western tombs(No. 2) of Neungsan-ri, Buyeo from the Sabi period of Baekje where there was a recent excavation survey. This tomb has similar structure to the Donghachong of the central tombs of Neungsan-ri, which led to an approach toward the emergence and spread issues of such tombs by reviewing the making techniques and patterns of their artifacts. It was estimated that the gold ornament artifacts were the tip ornaments of an iron knife sheath based on their forms, accompanying artifacts and comparison with artifacts from the Lelang tombs. The artifacts had patterns expressed on them with gold lines or grains attached to them. Their colors were expressed with Jinsa, a red pigment. There were simple dragon, twin birds(phoenix), palmette, mountain, and cloud patterns on the front, back, and side with circular and triangular patterns wrapping the outskirts. The making techniques of the artifacts were found in gold artifacts from the Woongjin or Sabi period of Baekje, and it was the same with the outskirts patterns. Most of the patterns are found in artifacts from the Woongjin or Sabi period, but the details of the dragon and twin birds(phoenix) patterns and the pattern composition on the back including the twin birds(phoenix) seem to have something with the Four-Gods murals in Goguryeo tombs including Sasinchong in Honam-ri and Gangseodaemyo, in Pyeongyang. These findings indicate that there were the impacts of Goguryeo tombs on the Tombs of stone chamber with a flat ceiling such as Donghachong, the western tombs(No. 2), of which the western tombs(No. 2) were estimated to be related to the data later than the central Donghachong.
