학교사회복지사의 인정결핍의 현상과 권리회복을 위한 대안모색

국문 초록

본 연구는 .학교사회복지사들이 실천현장에서 경험하는 인정결핍의 문제를 고찰하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 사회구조 속에서 일어나는 갈등과 부정의를 포괄적으로 설명하는 ‘호네트의 인정이론’을 준거틀로 하였다. 또한 인정결핍의 현상을 구체적으로 확인하고자 ○○지역의 학교사회복지사업을 운영하는 56개 학교의 실천가들에 대한 전수조사와 심층면접을 실시하였다. 연구결과 실천가들이 경험하는 학대와 폭행, 권리의 부정과 배제, 사회적 가치에 대한 평가절하 등의 인정결핍은 업무몰입과 사기저하에 영향을 미칠 뿐만 아니라 실천가의 80% 이상이 이직을 고민하는 원인으로 나타났다. 이는 또한 이들의 자부심저하와 명예손상, 자존감상실 등에 영향을 미치고 있었다. 이에 인정투쟁에 기초한 권리회복의 논의가 하나의 가능성이 될 수 있음을 살펴보았다. 우리 사회속에서 한 인간으로서 그리고 사회복지사로서 주체적으로 살아갈 수 있는지에 대해 고 민하고 다양한 논의를 이끌어 내는 호네트의 인정투쟁은 인간관계에서의 자기보존과 사회의 도덕적 발전을 이끄는 추동력이 될 수 있기 때문이다.

영문 초록

This study sought to examine the realities of how the lack of recognition experienced by school social workers in the line of duty gives rise to the phenomenon of damaged identity. The frame of reference used for this purpose was Honneth’s recognition theory, which comprehensively explains the conflicts and injustices that occur within social structures. To concretely confirm the phenomenon of lack of recognition, we conducted an exhaustive study and in-depth interviews of all practitioners at the 56 schools that operated school social works programs in the Su-won region. Study results indicated that the lack of recognition experienced by practitioners – such as abuse and violence, the denial and exclusion of rights, and the devaluation of social values – not only negatively affected work commitment and morale, but was found to be the reason why more than 80% of the practitioners were considering quitting. Furthermore, lack of recognition was also found to lead to recovered right, such as lower self-esteem and loss of self-respect. In view of this, this study suggested Honneth’s struggle for recognition as a means of considering and eliciting diverse discussions on the possibility of living autonomously within Korean society, both as a person and as a social worker. This is because Honneth’s struggle for recognition can be the driving force for self-preservation within personal relationships as well as society’s moral development.
