지적 장애인 여성의 성적 욕구와 인식에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 지적 장애인 여성 당사자의 성적 욕구와 인식의 본질적 의미를 이해하여 이들의 성을 지원하는 국가 및 전문 서비스 제공자들에게 유용한 시사점을 제공하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 지적 장애인 여성 6명을 대상으로 Giorgi의 현상학적 연구방법을 활용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과 성적 욕구에는 ‘성적 호기심에서 분출되는 욕망’, ‘사랑하는 사이에서 수반되는 쾌감적 행위’, ‘불시에 일어나는 자극적 행위’, ‘성적 욕구가 별로 없음’이란 의미로 나타나고 있다. 그리고 성적 인식에는 ‘바람직한성의 지향’, ‘낭만적 성과 사랑의 환상’, ‘비장애인과 다르지 않는 성과 사랑’, ‘성적 무관심의 대상’, ‘제한된 성’, ‘폭력에 대항하기 어려운 성’, ‘상대적으로 부족한 성적 매력’, ‘이용당할 수 있는 성’, ‘일탈된 성’으로 나타나고 있다. 이러한 분석 결과를 토대로 지적 장애인 여성들은 자신들의 성적 욕구와 인식에 있어, 양가적 심리, 정상성과 낭만성 에 기반 한 바람직하고 좋은 성의 지향, 자기 비하적 태도, 자기 검열과 사회적 금기 위반 사이에서 발생하는 균열감을 드러내고 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이를 토대로 지적 장애인 여성의 성을 지원하는 장애인복지 실천 현장에서 개입할 수 있는 방안을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims to suggest useful implications to the government and professional service provider that support the sexuality of women with intellectual disability by understanding the essential meaning of their sexual desire and awareness. To do so, this study analyzed 6 women with intellectual disability using Giorgi s phenomenological method. According to the analysis, ‘sexual desire erupting from curiosity’, ‘pleasant actions in loving relationship’, ‘unexpected stimulating action’, and ‘sexual anorexia’ were derived from sexual desires. ‘desirable sexual orientation’, ‘fantasy about romantic sexual relationship and love’, ‘sexuality and love not different from non-disabled’, ‘the object of sexual indifference’, ‘limited sexuality’, ‘relatively low sexual attraction’, ‘‘sexuality hard to resist violence’, ‘exploitable sexuality’, and ‘deviant sexuality’ were derived from sexual awareness. Based on these analysis results, intellectually disabled had ambivalent psychological states towards their sexual desire and awareness which were desirable and good sexual orientation based on normality and romance, self-deprecating attitude as a sexual being, cracks between self censorship and social taboo violation. Accordingly, this study suggests intervention plans in the field of disabled welfare practice.
