월성 해자 식물유체로 본 경관 복원 연구

국문 초록

월성 해자 출토 씨·열매류, 화분분석을 통해 AD 5~6세기대 월성과 그 주변지역의 식생경관을 복원하고, 고대인들은 식물과 어떤 관계를 맺고 있었는지 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 해자와 북측 주변지역의 식생경관을 구성하는 식물군의 생육장소를 논의할 수 있었고, 구체적인 추정 복원도로 표현하였다. 해자에 자랐던 가시연꽃을 비롯한 다양한 수생식물군락, 호안 목제 구조물, 그리고 목제 구조물 바깥쪽의 해자 수역에 맞닿은곳은 습생식물대로 이루어진 공간이 존재했을 것이다. 보다 북측으로는 인간활동의 영향으로 형성된 터주식물군 중심의 초지가 펼쳐지고, 그 배후에는 월성 북쪽을 흐르는 발천 주변으로 느티나무·느릅나무류가 주된 하안림(河岸林)이 분포하는 공간으로 추정하였다. 또한 신라왕경의 광역 식생경관의 변화양상과 고대인의 식물이용상에 대해 논의하고, 이것에 관련된 구체적인 복원그림 작성을 위해 앞으로 밝혀야 할 중요한 과제들을 추출해 낼 수 있었다. 이와 같이 생육장소를 구체화시킨 식생경관 복원도 작성의 시도는 향후 월성을 포함한 신라왕경경관을 밝히기 위한 토대가 될 것이다

영문 초록

From the analysis of fruit, seed, and pollen remains excavated from the moats of Wolseong Palace site, Gyeongju, its nearby vegetation landscape in 5-6th century A.D. has been reconstructed and it tells about how people at the time utilized plants. An archaeobotanical reconstruction drawing is created based on the growing sites for the plants that constituted the vegetation landscape of the moat and its neighborhood areas in the north. It is inferred that various hydrophyte communities including Euryale ferox populated the moat whereas the places in which the exteriors of wooden revetment structures adjoined the waters consisted mostly of hygrophyte zones. Northwards from the palace, a ruderal plant dominant grassland created by human activities seems to exist in the past, and the space beyond this grassland and around Balcheon river running across the north side of Wolseong Palace is assumed to be populated by riparian forests dominated with Zelkova-Ulmus at the time. From this reconstruction, some important issues are raised for the further research on the changes in the regional vegetation landscape in Royal capital of Silla and people’s plant utilization, and for the more detailed archaeobotanical reconstruction drawing as the cornerstone of the study on the Royal capital’s vegetation landscape, including Wolseong Palace.
