국문 초록

동시대인들이 경험한 시대를 연구 대상으로 삼는 현대사는 다른 시대사와 몇 가지 점에서 구별된다. 현대사의 방법론적인 문제에 관한 논의는 대개 이러한 차이점으로부터 출발한다. 이 글에서는 독일에서 현대사 방법론에 관해 논의된 내용을 살펴볼 것이다. 오늘날 역사학의 한 분과로 자리 잡은 현대사 역시 다른 시대사와 마찬가지로 여러 가능성과 동시에 일정한 한계를 갖고 있는데, 이러한 점을 살펴보는 것은 현대사를 이해하기 위해 요구되는 기본 전제이다. 동시에 현대사에 관한 이론적 논의를 추적하는 것은 20세기 독일사를 이해하는 과정이기도 하다. 현실이나 사실로부터 유리된 이론은 존재할 수 없으며, 독일의 현대사 논의도 20세기 역사를 토대로 진행되었기 때문이다. 이 글에서는 독일 현대사를 둘러싸고 제기된 여러 문제와 논의를 아래와 같은 문제들을 중심으로 정리해보고자 한다. 영문 초록

Contemporary history, which takes the experiences of contemporary people as a object to research, is distinguished in several points from the other history. The methodological discussions on contemporary history usually begin with these differences. This article will analyze the discussions of contemporary history methodology in Germany. Contemporary history, which has become a branch of history today, has many possibilities and certain limitations as well as other history. Observing them all is a basic premise required to understand contemporary history. At the same time, pursuing theoretical discussion of contemporary history is also a process of understanding German history in the 20th century. There is no theory liberated from realities or facts, and the discussion of contemporary history in Germany was also based on the history of the twentieth century. In this article, I would like to summarize the various problems and discussions raised in the context of German contemporary history, focusing on the following issues. Ÿ Is contemporary history essentially different from history of other epochs? Ÿ What are possibilities and limitations of contemporary history? Ÿ Problems of periodization with the passage of time in contemporary history Ÿ Various turning points in German contemporary history Ÿ The meaning of the year 1945 in German History.(Hansung University)
