오직 믿음으로 (sola fide) ― 칭의론에 대한 논쟁과 성서적 해석; 루터에서 오늘까지

국문 초록

이 글은 세분화된 주제에 대한 심오한 탐구는 아니다. 종교 개혁 500주년을 기념하여 2017년에 국내에서 발간된 많은 글들과 학술 대회 에서 논의된 주제들 가운데 성서신학적인 논술이 의외로 많지 않아, ‘오직 믿음’으로 대변되는 칭의론의 문제를 일반적으로 다루고 문제점들만 나열하였다. 글의 첫 부분은 칭의론에 대한 연구사를 요약하였는데, 소위 ‘새 관점’으로 불리는 관점을 중점적으로 소개했고 한국 학자들의 관점도 덧붙 였다. 이어서 갈 2:11-21; 롬 3:21-4:25을 기본으로 하여 이방인 선교를 위한 칭의론의 콘텍스트, 유대 종교에 대한 바울의 관점, ‘디카이오스’ 의 용어적 문제, 칭의론의 주체, ‘피스티스 크리스투’, 그리고 하박국서 2 장 4절에 대한 적절한 해석의 문제를 개괄적으로 다루고 문제점을 제시 했다. 글의 성격상 결론은 새로운 대안이나 제시를 하지 않고 기존에 있는 기독교 신학의 전통들이 새로운 성서 해석과 주석을 근거로 새롭게 정리되고 이해되어야 한다는 의견을 피력하는 것으로 그쳤다. 여기에 제기된 세분화된 문제들에 대한 학자들의 좋은 논문을 기대한다.

영문 초록

In the year 2017, all the churches observed the 500th anniversary of the publication of Martin Luther’s Ninety-Five Theses in Wittenberg and numerous scholars have published to commemorate this event. Among them, it is difficult to find publications regarding protestant reformers’ assertions of the prime authority of Scripture and justification by faith alone (sola fide) . This article reviews the historical research of the idea of justification by faith and suggests new hermeneutical principles based on the exegesis of Gal. 2:11-21 and Rom. 3:21-4:15. First, through a proper understanding of the passages’ context, the main purpose of passages on justification was to solve the problem between Jews and Gentiles. Second, Paul’s view of Judaism differed completely from the reformer’s concept (anti-torah) . Third, Paul’s apocalyptic language vis a vis “the righteousness of God” refers to the apostolic ministry and God’s own faithfulness to the new covenant in providing salvation through Christ whether the “righteousness of God” is objective or subjective. It also connects to pistis christou. Fourth, the context of Habbakuk 2:4 should not be understood as the belief of a righteous person but as faithfulness to the laws. As a result, this article concludes that the reformers’ assertions of sola fide should be reconsidered based on proper biblical exegesis.
