국문 초록

본 연구는 R&D투자가 활발한 184개의 한국 지식서비스 기업을 중심으로 산업의 특성 및 기술변화와 특허생산이 기업성과에 미치는 영향을 분석하고 있다. 분석결과 지식서비스산업의 R&D투자나 특허는 제조업에 비해 현저히 낮은 수준으로 R&D투자의 경우 제조업의 1/3 수준을 기록하고 있다. 제조업과 마찬가지로 기업의 R&D투자는 기업의 특허생산에 양의 영향을 미치 며, 기업의 규모도 역시 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 R&D투자나 특허가 기업의 성과에 미치는 영향은 제조업과 마찬가지로 중요한 역할을 하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 다만 비교역재가 많은 서비스업의 특성상 개방도는 기업의 성과에 미치는 영향이 제조업에 비해 크지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 지식서비스산업의 저조한 R&D투자나 특허의 수준은 지식서비 스산업의 경쟁력을 더욱 낮추는 결과를 초래할 것이다. 서비스분야의 R&D성과는 타 분야로 산업화 혹은 상용화되는 경우가 많음을 고려할 때 지식서비스분야 R&D지원에 대한 필요성은 매우 크다. 서비스관련 분야 R&D지원의 확대를 위해서는 기존 제조업 중심의 R&D분야와는 차별 화된 서비스분야 R&D지원 체계 및 투자전략의 수립 및 투자확대가 요구된다.

영문 초록

Purpose : This paper examines the effects of industry characteristics, technology changes and patent production on firm performance. Research design, data, methodology : The knowledge service industry is a source of added value creation using knowledge, and has high growth potential that plays an intermediate role between manufacturing and service industries. This study analyzes 184 Korean knowledge service firms with active R&D investment. Results : As a result, R&D investment and patents in the knowledge service industry are significantly lower than those in the manufacturing industry, and R&D investment accounts for one third of the manufacturing industry. As with manufacturing, firms R&D investment has a positive impact on firm s patent production, and firm size also has a positive effect. In addition, the effect of R&D investment and patents on the performance of the firm has played an important role as well as the manufacturing industry. Conclusions : D ue to the nature of the service industry, which has a large number of non-tradable goods, the effect of degree of openness is not as large as that of the manufacturing industry.
