불교상담의 정의와 이론에 관한 일고찰

국문 초록

불교상담을 ‘불교심리학에 기반을 둔 상담’으로 정의하는 것은 불교상담의 주제와 정체성, 계통과 영역을 드러내는 정의라고 할 수 있다. 불교상담 이론에서는 불교상담의 주제가 되는 마음에 대하여 ‘의(意)라는 감각기관을 통해서 아는 기능[識]을 하고, 이 기능을 중심으로 나머지 기능(느끼고, 생각하고, 의도하는)이 집적되어 있는[心] 기능복합체’라는 포괄적 정의와 ‘공(空), 무아(無我), 불성(佛性), 불이(不二), 청정(淸淨)을 특징으로 가지는 반야(般若)’라는 본래적 정의를 하고 있다. 이러한 정의는 마음에 대한 두 가지 경향성 즉 다원적 경향성과 일원적 경향성에 기반하고 있다. 전자는 마음이 가지고 다양한 기능에 초점을 맞추고 있는 반면, 후자는 마음의 원래의 기능 즉 아는 기능에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 마음의 활동기제로서 연기, 연기에 따른 마음의 상태도 마음의 두 가지 관점에 따라서 두 가지 형태로 볼 수 있다. 불교상담이론 가운데 진단과 처방과 관련해서는 사성제의 관점에서 괴로움의 보편성과 소멸된 상태를 볼 수도 있고, 번뇌즉보리라는 불이적 관점에서 볼 수도 있다. 성격이론에서는 인간을 다양한 기능이 활동하는 기능적 존재, 마음의 원래 기능이 잠재해 있는 가능적 존재로 볼 수 있다. 정체성이 론에서는 범부의 정체성과 성자의 정체성을 자아와 무아의 관점에서 볼 수 있고, 보는 기능에서도 마음의 두 가지 경향성을 볼 수 있다. 말과 실재의 관계에서는 지월(指月)적 기능과 무상(無相)적 기능을 통해서 마음의 두 가지 경향성을 볼 수 있다. 마음의 중층성이론에서는 무의식이 의식과 밀접히 연관되어 있는 것을 볼 수 있고, 정서와 몸이론에서는 몸과 정서와 마음이 밀접히 연관되어 있는 것을 볼 수 있다. 이처럼 불교상담이론은 마음을 바라보는 두 가지 관점을 중심으로 전개할 수 있다.

영문 초록

The definition of Buddhist counseling as Buddhist psychology based counseling is a definition that reveals the subject, identity, system and field of Buddhist counseling. In the Buddhist counseling theory, the mind is a functional complex, in which the function of knowing is understood through the organ of sense and the other functions, for example feeling, thinking and intention, can be functioned and accumulated. Along with this comprehensive definition, it is possible to define the original definition of the original appearance and function of the mind as nature. The former focuses on the various functions of the mind, while the latter focuses on the original function of the mind, namely the knowing function. The dependent origination as the activity mechanism of the mind and the states of mind accord-ing to the dependent origination can be seen in two forms according to two views of mind. In the Buddhist counseling theory, in terms of diagnosis and prescription, we can see the universality of suffering from the point of The Four Noble Truths, the Non-duality of defilement and bodhi. In personality theory, human beings can be regarded as functional beings with various functions, and possible beings whose original function of mind is latent. In the theory of identity, we can see the identity of the layman and the identity of the saint in terms of self and no-self, and we can see two tendencies of mind in the function of seeing. In the relationship between language and reality, two tendencies of the mind can be seen through the function of pointing to the moon and the function of the formlessness. In the theory of multiple mind, we can see that unconsciousness is closely related to consciousness. In emotion and body theory, body, emotion and mind are closely related. Thus, Buddhist counseling theory can be developed according to two views of the mind.
