실용-쾌락 편익과 시간지향성이 시간지연에 대한 기다림의향에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 제품 편익의 유형(실용적, 쾌락적)이 시간지연 발생 시 기다림의향에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 기존연구들은 제품 유형을 실용적, 쾌락적으로 나누어 제품 구매의도, 선호도, 지불의사(Willingness to pay)를 측정한 연구가 대부분이었지만, 본 연구 에서는 새로운 종속변수로써 기다림의향(Willingness to wait)을 측정하여 시간지연 발생 시 제품 편익 유형에 따라 기다림의향이 달라질 수 있는지 살펴보았다. 또한 개인의 시간지향성(개방적, 제한적)에 따라 기다림의향이 달라질 수 있을 것으로도 예측하였 다. 서울소재대학에 다니는 학부생을 대상으로 가상의 광고 자극물과 시나리오를 디자인하여 실험하였다. 분석 결과 제품 편익, 시간지향성의 주효과 및 제품 편익과 시간지향성의 상호작용효과가 모두 부분적으로 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 쾌락적 편익(vs. 실용적 편익)을 제공하는 제품의 경우 시간지연에 대한 기다림의향이 더 큰 것으로 나타났으며, 개방적 시간지향성(vs. 제한적 시간 지향성)을 가진 사람들이 시간지연에 대한 기다림의향이 더 큰 것으로 나타났다. 상호작용 분석 결과 제한적 시간지향성일 때는 실용-쾌락 편익 간의 시간지연에 대한 기다림의향의 차이가 유의하지 않았지만, 개방적 시간지향성일 때는 실용-쾌락 편익 간의 차이가 유의하게 나타났다. 뿐만 아니라 실용적 편익일 때는 제한적 시간지향성과 개방적 시간지향성 간의 시간지연에 대한 기다림의향의 차이는 유의하지 않았지만, 쾌락적 편익일 때는 제한적 시간지향성과 개방적 시간지향성 간의 차이가 유의하게 나타 났다.

영문 초록

This study examined the effects of product benefits(utilitarian, hedonic) on willingness to wait at time delay. While existing literatures have focused on measuring product purchase intention, preference and willingness to pay by dividing product types into utilitarian and hedonic. In this study, we measured the Willingness to wait, which is a new dependent variable, and noted that consumers’ willingness to wait at time delay may vary depending on product benefits. In addition, according to the time perspective(expanded vs. limited) of the individual, the perception and evaluation of time can be varied, and as a result, the expectation of the willingness to wait can be differed according to the time perspective of the individual. For the study, hypothetical advertising stimuli and scenarios were designed and used for the experiment. Data collection was conducted for undergraduates at Seoul area. The results showed that the main effects of product benefits and time perspective and the interaction effects of product benefits and time perspective were partially significant. Specifically when subjects were exposed to product that provides hedonic benefits(vs. utilitarian benefits), and when subjects were with expanded time perspective(vs. limited time perspective), those were more likely to wait for time delays. As a result of the interaction analysis, there was no significant difference in waiting intention for time delays between utilitarian and hedonic benefits in limited time orientation but there was significant difference between utilitarian and hedonic benefits in expanded time orientation. In addition, there was no statistically significant difference in the intention to wait for the time delay between the limited time orientation and the expanded time orientation when product was utilitarian-typed, but the difference between the limited time orientation and the expanded time orientation was significant when hedonic-typed product.
