국문 초록

이 연구는 상위인지 전략의 효과를 체계적으로 살펴보는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 19편의 관련 연구에서 20개의 효과크기를 산출하고 종속변인, 독립변인, 조절변인에 따른 효과를 메타분석하였다. 본 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 상위인지 전략의 전체 효과크기는 .794로 중간 효과크기를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 상위인지 전략은 말하기 능력 향상에 가장 효과적이었다(1.522). 셋째, 자기 수정(1.682), 자기 조절(.969), 자기 질문(.888), 자기 평가(1.258) 전략이 큰 효과크기를 가지는 것으로 분석되었다. 넷째, 학습자 언어권, 숙달도, 학습 목적, 학급 인원수, 수업 횟수를 조절변인으로 상정하고 효과를 분석한 결과 모든 변인이 통계적으로 유의미하지 않았다. 그리고 각각의 결과에 대해 자세히 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to examine the effect of meta-cognitive strategies instruction in Korean language education systematically. To this end, a meta-analysis was conducted by calculating 20 effect sizes in 19 related studies that verified the effect of meta-cognitive strategies instruction. The key findings of this study are as follows. First, the overall effect size of meta-cognitive strategies instruction transpired to be medium (.794). Second, meta-cognitive strategies instruction was most effective in improving speaking ability (1.522). Third, self-correction (1.682), self-regulated (.969), self-questioning (.888), self-assesment (1.258) strategies instruction transpired to be big. Fourth, the analysis of the moderator effects revealed that none of the five variables (language group, proficiency, number of students, number of lessons, and learning purpose) had a statistically significant impact on the result. Detailed findings and pedagogical suggestions are also discussed.
