동아대 비교과 독서프로그램 ‘동좌문도 북클럽’ 운영 사례 연구

국문 초록

‘동좌문도(同坐問道) 북클럽’은 평가와 무관하게 자발적으로 교수와 학생들이 모여 책을 읽고 토론하며 글을 쓰는 동아대 비교과 독서프로그램이다. 교육목표는 독서를 바탕으로 동아대의 교육목표에 닿아 있으며, 특히 평생 독자로서 능동적인 독서 태도를 기르는 데 목표를 두었다. 2017년도 9월부터 2018년 1월까지 운영했으며, 조별 구성원은 멘토와 멘티, 지도교수이다. ‘동좌문도 북클럽’을 통해 학생들은 책을 선정하는 안목을 기르고, 선정된 한 권의 책을 함께 읽는 공독(共讀)과 천천히 깊게 읽는 지독(遲讀)을 실행하였다. 독후 활동으로 기존의 독후감에서 나아가 창작의 영역인 ‘독서에세이’로 마무리하였고, 에세이를 모아 한 권의 책으로 출간하여 학생이 독자에 머무르지 않고, 저자가 되는 경험을 했으며, 책 출간을 통해 학내 독서문화 진작에 이바지했다. 나아가 의사소통 능력 향상과 인문학적 소양을 바탕으로 한 인성 함양의 토대도 마련했다. ‘동좌문도 북클럽’은 프로그램의 개발과 운영과정에서 몇 가지 개선점이 나타났다. 운영 일정이 촉박하여 한 권의 책을 선정하는 과정에서 충분한 토의를 거치지 못했고, 지도교수의 역할이 강조되면서 상대적으로 멘토의 역할이 명확하지 않았다. 독서에세이 쓰기가 창작의 영역이라 학생들의 부담이 지나치게 컸고, 정식 도서에 자신의 글이 실린다는 계획에 부담을 느꼈기에 글쓰기 지도를 더욱 강화해야 했다. 무엇보다 조별 활동에서 이루어진 성과를 ‘동좌문도 북클럽’ 전체로 확산하는 노력과 독서 관련 교과교육과정과 비교과 독서프로그램을 긴밀하게 연계하여 운영할 필요가 있었다.

영문 초록

The ‘Dongjwamundo(同坐問道) Book Club’ is a Dong-a University extracurricular reading program in which teachers and students voluntarily read, discuss and write independently of the evaluation. Based on reading, the goal of education is to reach Dong-a’s educational goals. In particular, it aims to cultivate an active reading attitude as a lifelong reader. From September 2017 to January 2018, the group members are mentors, mentees, and advisors. Through the ‘Dongjwamundo Book Club’, the students developed a sense of selecting a book and conducted a shared reading and a slow reading on one pre-selected book. We wrote ‘reading essay’ as a post-reading activity. And the essay was collected and published as one book, and the student did not stay in the reader, but had experience as an author. In addition, we published books and revitalized the university’s reading culture. Furthermore, we have laid the foundations for the cultivation of humanity based on the improvement of communication skills and the cultivation of humanities. However, there are some improvements in the development and operation of the program. Although the selection of one book was enough to be discussed, the schedule of operations was tight and the role of the mentor was unclear. The students had difficulty in writing a reading essay, and felt the burden of planning to write my essay in a formal book. Therefore, we had to strengthen the writing instruction. It was necessary to spread the achievements of the group activities to the whole of the ‘Dongjwamundo Book Club’. The curriculum and the extracurricular reading program had to be closely linked.
