국문 초록

마태 20,29-34는 두 소경의 치유에 관한 담론으로, 예수가 예루살렘에 입성하기 직전까지의 공생활을 종결짓는 동시에, 예루살렘에서의 파스카 사건들로 장면 전환을 준비하는 중요한 단락이다. 일반적으로 학자들은 이 담론이 복음서 안에서 중요한 위치에 자리잡고 있다는 사실과 본문의 주 해적 가치를 높이 평가하면서도, 이 단락을 마태 9,27-31의 ‘중복’ 또는 마 르 9,27-31의 ‘복사본’으로 간주한다. 그러나 마태 20,29-34을 공관 복음의 다른 병행구절들(마태 9,27-31; 마르 10,46-52; 루카 18,35-43)과 비교해보면 마태오가 본문의 여러 요소들을 간소화하거나 생략, 추가하는 등 일종의 차별화를 시도했음을 확인할 수 있는데, 이는 본문에 문맥 안에서의 고유한 역할을 부여하고 신학적 메시지들을 담으려는 그의 편집적 의도를 시사한다. 두 소경의 치유 사화(20,29-34)는 우선 직접적 문맥 안에서 이전, 이후 단락들과 매우 밀접한 내용-주제적 차원의 상관관계를 보인다. 이 본문은 이전 단락(20-28절)에서 언급된 두 제자의 불완전함과는 대조되는 ‘진정한 제자됨’의 의미를 충만히 드러내는 한편, 이후 단락(21,1-11)에서 메시아로서의 예수의 신원을 올바로 이해하지도 못한 채 환호하는 군중들에 앞서 그의 신원을 올바로 이해했던 두 소경의 ‘참된 지식과 믿음의 예형’을 미리 보여준다. 뿐만 아니라, 20,29-34은 복음서 전체의 여러 신학적 메시지들을 함축적으로 내포하고 있는데, 예수의 파스카 사건 보도 직전에 그것들을 독자들에게 최종적으로 종합, 제시하는 역할을 한다. 결론적으로, 마태 20,29-34는 병행구절인 9,27-31이나 출전 본문으로 여겨지는 마르 10,46-52의 단순한 중복이라 할 수 없다. 그것은 마태오가 적절한 순간에 자신의 신학적 메시지들을 종합하여 재강조하고, 예루살렘에서의 파스카 사건에 관한 이야기로 넘어가기 위해 의도적으로 재구성하여 신중하게 배치한 고유한 담론이다. 그렇게 마태오 복음사가는 이제 수난과 죽음, 부활 사건으로 향하는 주님의 뒤를 제자로서 따르도록 모든 독자들을 초대한다.

영문 초록

Mt 20,29-34 is a passage that depicts the healing of two blind men and an important scene to prepare for a transition to the paschal events in Jerusalem, as well as to round out the Jesus’ public ministry before his entry there. Scholars generally regard the present passage as a ‘doublet’ of Mt 9,27-31 or a ‘copy’ of Mr 9,27-31, while appreciating its important position in the Gospel and its exegetical value. But comparing Mt 20,29-34 with other parallel passages of the Synoptic Gospels(Mt 9,27-31; Mr 10,46-52; Lk 18,35-43), it can be confirmed that Matthew attempted differentiation by simplifying, omitting and adding some textual elements. This implies his editorial intention to give his story a unique role in context and to contain theological messages there. This matthean pericope about the healing of two blind men(20,29-34) shows, at the level of content and theme, a close correlation with the previous and subsequent passages in the direct context. It fully reveals the meaning of ‘true discipleship’ as contrasted with the incompleteness of the two disciples mentioned in the previous passage(vv. 20-28), while shows in advance ‘true knowledge and model of faith’ of the two blind men, who have correctly understood the identity of Jesus as Messiah, prior to the acclaimed crowd lacking it in the subsequent passage(21,1-11). In addition, 20,29-34 implicitly implies the various theological messages of the entire Gospel and presents them in redacted or summarized form to readers ultimately before Jesus’ paschal events. In conclusion, Mt 20,29-34 is neither just a doublet of its parallel pericope 9,27-31 nor a copy of its source text Mr 10,46-52. It is a unique passage intentionally schemed and deliberately arranged by Matthew in order to summarize and approve his theological messages at the right moment and to move on to the story of the paschal events in Jerusalem. So the evangelist Matthew invites all readers to follow in discipleship after the Lord on the way to his suffering, death and resurrection in Jerusalem.
