국문 초록

이 글은 일본 남선사 소장 『사분율장』을 대상으로 이 자료에 기입되어 있는 11세기 각필 부호들을 보다 더 정확하게 분석한 것이다. 『사분율장』의 각필 부호의 형태는 크게 단선과 반달, 체크, 점의 4가지로 분류할 수 있으며, 주로 한자의 오른쪽과 왼쪽, 그리고 중앙에 부호가 새겨졌다. 이 부호들이 차지하는 비율은 단선 80%, 반달 5%, 점 7%, 체크 5%, 그 외가 3%이다. 그러나 『사분율장』에 새겨진 부호들은 기존의 각필 문헌 자료들과는 달리 ‘문장이나 어절을 끊는 선’과 ‘문장이나 어절을 연결하는 선’을 제외하고는 부호들이 가지고 있는 규칙성을 발견할 수 없었다. 다만 이들 『사분율장』에 새겨진 부호들은 기존 각필 연구에서 논의된 바 있는 경계, 구분, 지시 등의 의미보다는 원문을 해석하는 주요 도구, 즉 한자 어휘나 한문 문장의 의미를 정확하게 파악하도록 하는 석독 표기의 부호임을 알았다.

영문 초록

This paper is more accurate to analyze the 11th century Gakpil marks written in the 『Fourfold Division Vinaya(Sabun-yuljang)』, which is preserved in Nanzen Temple (Nanzen-ji) in Kyoto, Japan. The sorts of Gakpil marks in the 『Fourfold Division Vinaya(Sabun-yuljang)』 can be classified into four categories: single lines, checks, semi-circles, and dots, and are printed the marks mainly on the right and the left of Chinese characters, and in the middle of them. The share of these marks is single lines 80%, semi-circles 5%, dots 7%, and checks 5%, and the others 3%. However, unlike existing Gakpil text materials, these engraved marks in the 『Fourfold Division Vinaya (Sabun-yuljang)』 don’t have any regularities except ‘stop line for sentences or words-phrases’ and ‘link line for sentences or words-phrases’. In particular, the written marks in the 『Fourfold Division Vinaya(Sabun-yuljang)』 are signs of Seokdok notations to find out the exact meaning of Chinese vocabulary or sentence, that is, a major tool for interpreting the original text rather than the meaning of boundaries, classifications, and directions what was discussed in the earlier Gakpil studies.
