국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 교육내용 적정화의 의미를 명료화함으로써 교육내용 적정화가 실질적으로 이루어질 수 있는 기반을 마련하는 것이다. 이를 위해 Ⅱ장에서는 교육내용 적정화가 논의되는 맥락과 교육내용의 의미론적 혼란에 대해 살펴보았다. 적정화의 맥락 측면에는 판단 주체, 양적 기준과 질적 기준, 보편적 기준 대 특수적 기준, 폭과 깊이의 균형 유지 문제 등이 적정화의 주요 쟁점으로 파악되었다. 교육내용의 의미론적 혼란은 교육내용을 지식으로 볼 것인지 경험으로 볼 것인지의 문제, 교육내용을 협의로 혹은 광의로 볼 것인지의 문제 등 이 쟁점으로 나타났다. Ⅲ장에서는 주요 쟁점들을 종합적으로 살펴보면서, 교육 내용의 적정화의 의미를 탐색하였다. 교육내용 적정화는 학습부담의 경감과 바람직한 학습경험의 회복을 목적으로 하며, 교육과정 전문가, 교과 전문가, 교사 등이 교과내용으로 지식은 물론 가치와 태도, 지적 및 신체적 기능 등을 각 교과의 특성에 따라 교육내용의 질적 수준을 판단하고 깊이 있는 학습을 위해 내용 양을 조정하는 것으로 규정하였다. Ⅳ장에서는 연구내용을 요약하고, 교육내용 적정화에 관련된 몇 가지 후속 연구를 제언하였다.

영문 초록

One of important issues in National-Curriculum revision is the issue of regulating the coverage and depth of curriculum content. This paper explores the meaning of the appropriateness of curriculum coverage and depth based on the analysis of continuing issues. The purpose of the study is to clearly clarify the meaning of the appropriateness of curriculum coverage and depth. In this study, the researcher tried to analyse and synthesize continuing issues about the appropriateness of curriculum coverage and depth. The results of the study are as follows. First, who has the authority to decide the appropriateness of curriculum coverage and depth, how to we reach satisfactory appropriateness of curriculum coverage and depth, how to we make the standard of appropriateness of curriculum coverage and depth are contemporary debating issues. Second, the researcher tried to clarify the meaning of the appropriateness of curriculum coverage and depth as follow: The purpose of the appropriateness of curriculum coverage and depth is two, one purpose is the lighting the burden of study, the other purpose is to giving students opportunities for authentic learning experiences. The researcher emphasis the importance of qualitative and specific standard than quantitative and general standard.
