영남해안지역의 반원형검파두식석검의 출현과 전개

국문 초록

본 글은 최근 제기되고 있는 초기 석검와 관련하여 석검의 조형으로 논의되어 왔던 반원형검파두식석검의 유행을 영남해안지역의 지역성으로 보고, 한반도 석검의 전개 과정에서 반원형검파두식석검의 위치를 구체적으로 살펴본 것이다. 한반도에 석검은 적어도 청동기시대 전기전반 이전에 등장하며, 중국동북지역~두만강유역의 뼈를 이용한 단검에서 기원한 것으로 보인다. 초기석검은 유경식, 일단병식, 이단병식 등 정형성이 뚜렷하지 않지만, 혈구를 가진 소형단검을 기본으로 한다. 전기전반에는 정형성을 갖추어 가면서 전기후반에 각 지역 마다의 지역성이 나타나고, 지역마다의 형태변화가 전개된다. 반원형검파두식석검은 이러한 한반도 석검의 전개과정 중에 중국동북지역으로부터 유입된 반원형검파두식동검의 영향을 받아 출현하는 것으로 보인다. 그 과정을 보면 동검정보가 지속적으로 유입되어 한반도에 영향을 미치듯이 동검의 모방도 여러 차례에 걸쳐 진행되었다. 즉 반원형검파두식석검은 무투공형, 고리형, 반원투공형으로 구분되는데, 무투공형→ 고리형 → 반원투공형 순으로 출현한다. 이러한 변화는 형식변화라기 보다는 지속적인 동검정보의 유입에 따라 시기마다 다른 방식으로 모방한 결과로 생각된다. 무투공형과 고리형은 전기전반말~전기후반 중엽에 영남해안지역에서 보이는 병상 하단부가 장방형을 띠는 이단병식석검을 기반으로 외래의 검파두식 요소가 결합되어 출현한다. 그리고 전기후반 중엽경이 되면 반원형검파두식동검 전체를 모방한 전형적인 반원형검파두식석검이 영남해안을 중심으로 등장하여 유행하게 되며, 송국리단계 초기에 이르러 퇴화하면서 소멸한다.

영문 초록

With regard to initial stone daggers that have been recently attention in the academia, this study viewed the process through which stone daggers with semicircular pommel fittings, which have been discussed as the prototype of stone daggers, had developed, as the regional characteristics of Yeongnam s coastal area, and tracked the location of stone daggers with semicircular pommel fittings during the process through which stone daggers developed in the Korean Peninsula. The stone daggers of the Korean Peninsula appeared no later than the first half of the early Bronze Age, and originated from daggers made from bones in northeast China and the Tumen River basin. Although they are not stone daggers with definite patterns such as tanged stone daggers, stone daggers with one-stepped handle, and stone daggers with two-stepped handle, they are mainly characterized by the pattern of small daggers with blood grooves. After developing certain patterns in the first half of the early Bronze Age, they began to develop their distinct regional characteristics in each area in the latter half of the early Bronze Age. Stone daggers with semicircular pommel fittings appeared under the influence of bronze daggers with semicircular pommel fittings that were introduced from northeast China in the process through which stone daggers developed in the Korean Peninsula. The process shows that the imitation of a bronze dagger was carried out several times as the information about a bronze dagger was continuously introduced to and influenced the Korean peninsula. Specifically, stone daggers with semicircular pommel fittings are classified into a non-hole type stone dagger, a loop type stone dagger, and a semicircular hole type stone dagger, which appeared in the same order. Non-hole type stone daggers and loop type stone daggers appeared around the end of the first half to the middle of the latter half of the early Bronze Age in the form of adding foreign pommel fittings elements on the basis of stone daggers with two-stepped handle with rectangular upper and lower handle ends found in Yeongnam s coastal area. Around the middle of the latter half of the early Bronze Age, typical stone daggers with semicircular pommel fittings imitating the whole pattern of a bronze dagger with semicircular pommel fittings emerged and widely used around Yeongnam s coastal area. However, they declined and disappeared during the early Songguk-ri period.
