근대이행기 수리시설의 변동에 대한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 현재의 대전·충남·세종 지역을 사례로 하여 근대 이전에서부터 19세기 말, 20세기 초에 이르 는 시기 대표적인 전통적 수리시설(제언, 보)의 현황 및 변동 상황을 살펴보았다. 먼저 조선후기 제작된 지리지를 중심으로 사례지역의 37개 군·현의 제언 현황과 산계별 분포(금남정맥 계열, 금북정맥 계열)를 정리하였다. 금북 정맥보다 금남정맥 계열 군·현의 평균 제언수가 많았는데, 이는 현재의 금산고원과 계룡산지로 구성된 금남정맥 자락의 곡저나 하천 중·상류에 형성된 경지 관개를 위해 소규모의 제언이 다수 축조되었기 때문으로 보인다. 다 음으로 조선후기에서부터 1900년 초까지의 지역별·수계별 보 현황을 정리하였는데, 지역적 차이에도 불구하고 1900년을 전후로 하여 보의 설치가 증가하는 경향과 하천을 이용할 수 있는 지리적 조건을 갖춘 대부분의 지역 에 보가 설치되었음을 확인할 수 있었다. 마지막으로 조선후기에서 소위 근대이행기로 넘어가는 시기 수리시설 의 변동 경향을 탐색해 보았는데, 19세기 후반, 20세기 초를 거치면서 기존 전통사회에서 대표적 수리시설로 이 용되어 온 제언이 점차 줄어들면서 다수 군·현에서의 보의 축조가 급증하는 경향성을 확인할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

asty to the end of the 19th century and the early 20th century with the case study of Daejeon, Chungnam and Sejong areas. First, I examined the situation and distribution of Jeeons of the 37 regions by dividing the mountain systems into Geumnam and Geumbuk. The average number of Jeeon of Geumnam mountain system was higher than that of Geumbuk system. This seems to be due to the fact that many small Jeeons were made for irrigation of the cultivated field formed in the valley and the midstream and upstream of the Geumnam system composed of Geumsan plateau and Gyeryong mountain ridge. Secondly, I summarized the situation and distribution of Boes from the late Joseon Dynasty to the early 1900s. Then I found that regardless of the regional differences, almost all of regions had experienced the increase of construction of Boes around 1900. Finally, I searched for the inclination of the changes of Jeeons and Boes from the late Joseon Dynasty to the modern transition period of the late 19th century and early 20th century. As the Jeeons that had been used as representative irrigation facilities in the traditional society gradually decreased, the inclination of the drastic increase of Boes was observed in most regions of case areas.
