국문 초록

『대동여지도』에는 115개 군현에 242개의 사찰지명이 수록되어 있다. 『대동여지도』에 수록된 사찰지명은 『조 선지도』·『해동여지도』·『청구도』 등 대축척 지도와 지리지를 비롯한 『가람고』·『범우고』 등 사찰지의 기록까지 참조 하여 제작된 것으로 확인된다. 『대동여지도』 수록 지명 중 자연지명과 행정·군사지명을 제외하면 사찰지명이 가 장 많은데, 이는 외세 침략이 이루어지던 당시 승군을 담당한 사찰이 호국불교 역할을 하였기 때문에 중시된 것 으로 판단된다. 특히 김정호는 『청구도』에 표기된 지명을 『대동여지도』에 수용하면서 산지지명을 사찰지명으로 수정하며, 중복 기록한 사찰지명은 삭제하고, 누락되었던 사찰은 추가로 기록한다. 또 『대동여지도』에는 『청구도』 수록 내용을 수정하면서 사찰지명이 고개와 산지지명으로 바뀐 경우도 있고, 배방사(사천)의 경우처럼 배왕사와 배방사를 함께 판각하는 오류도 나타난다.

영문 초록

There were 242 temple names in 115 Gun-Hyeon units in Daedongyeojido. This was made by referring to the records of geographical books, Garamgoand Bumugo, which is the geography book focused on the Buddhist temples, including large-scale maps such as Joseonjido, Haedongyeojido,Cheonggudo. To the exclusion of the place name of natural, administrative, and military zone, in addition to, the temple names were mentioned the most frequently. It is because one of the most significant role of the temple was the protection of the country with Buddhist monk soldiers, when foreign invasions era. In particular, Kim Jeong-ho adopted the place names in Cheonggudoin Daedongyeojidoto modify the mountain place names to the temple names, and correct the mistake of eliminating duplicated temples. There were some errors, however, which were wrote the hills and the mountains instead of temple names in Daedongyeojido. In case of Baebangsa in Sacheon, moreover, there was a mistake as engraving Baewangsa in company with Baebangsa.
