영문 초록

This paper addresses the issues of discerning the most important achievements to date, and the challenges remaining within the realm of international relations between South Korea and New Zealand. The beginning of the 21st century is considered to be a period of significant transformation within the world system of international relations: it is the period of transformation from a bipolar system to a multi-polar one; it is the period which saw the formation of an Integrated Economic Area, and it is the period of an active immigration process. It is also the period when the leaders of many countries realized the necessity of cooperation in the field of world security, environmental protection, and human health on a national and an international scale. Furthermore, it is the major period of development of the information space. The world has seen an increasingly rapid rate of change over the last hundred years in many areas of development. In particular, international and domestic power structures have grown into more complicated open flexible systems where interactions between different nations have become more intensive. Today the Asia Pacific Region is believed to be the most prosperous region in the world where the process of integration and the expansion of economic cooperation is developing rapidly. It is one of the largest world centers of international trade, financial resources and modern production. Such a situation no doubt favours the stable development of bilateral relations between New Zealand and South Korea. Both countries are strengthening their positions on the international stage by reforming their domestic and foreign policies as they continue to show the importance of cooperation in different areas: political and economic contacts, and cooperation in the field of education and science.
