가치를 다루는 역사 수업의 실제와 가능성

국문 초록

역사 수업은 실증적이고 객관적인 역사적 사실을 주로 다루면서 진행된다. 그에 따라 교사는 객관적 관점을 지니고 수업을 해야 한다는 수업관이 존재한다, 그러나 매시간 가치를 다루고 있는 수업 상황의 현실을 부정하기 어렵다. 따라서 역사 교사의 가치와 관점이 녹아드는 수업을 하는 것에 대해 可否를 논하는 것보다 가치를 다루는 수업 방법, 교사의 역할, 학습자의 가치 교육 흐름 등을 논의하는 것이 현장을 지원하는 데 의미가 있을 것이라고 본다. 이 글에서는 민주시민교육을 계획하면서 토론, 말하기, 글쓰기 등의 수업 방법을 활용하여 민주주의 가치를 중점에 두고 진행한 역사 수업을 분석하였다. 교사는 가치 교화자나 기성세대의 가치 전수자의 역할을 지양하고, 학습자의 가치 형성 및 내재화에 유리하도록 가치 교육을 위한 수업을 구상하고 실행하였다. 이때 교사의 역할은 학습자와 평등한 의견 제시자, 사회적 합의 가치로의 안내자 등의 역할을 하는 것이 타당하고, 수업에서 다루어야 하는 가치는 민주시민 교육을 위해 필요한 보편 가치들이어야 함을 언급하고 있다. 이어서 학습자의 가치 내재화 상황을 설정하여 검토하였다. 실제 수업 상황에서 교사가 민주주의 가치를 어떤 방법으로 다루면서 수업을 할 수 있느냐에 중점을 둔 현장 연구이다. 이후 후속 연구들에서는 민주시민 교육의 교육 목표를 내용과 연계하여 방법적으로 실천할 수 있는 이론적 연구가 이루어지길 바란다.

영문 초록

The study is about the history classes of teaching value in the middle school. The classes are aimed of the internalization of the value for connecting with a history. The teaching planed the classes using those for value education in history subject and taught tally 4 times in 8 classrooms and then arranged the result of the 4 classes during 2 years. And the conclusion of these classes is thst students’ values in the history teaching are from the teacher’s thought and the students’ responses in the planning and processing. Generally speaking, the history teaching class had the mood of the rejection the possibility of a value in history education, but it was good for the formation of the value judgement and history thinking, and so on the internalization value. In the studies the value education vary in each subject. The public education have to emphasize on the democracy value thus in the history classes this value is considered much enough. This study attention to this point. As a result in this study, the democracy’s value is form the comprehension of history partially and then such experiences and training in a classroom is possible in growing up the student’s the citizenship of the democracy’s value in the future. This study showed the achievement value in the history classes and was the meaningful result of the history teaching, for the rejection value education is the real in the history teaching.
