국문 초록

국립고궁박물관 소장 동개는 일련의 동개와는 형식적인 차이가 두드러져 보존처리에 앞서 선행연구로 동개의 용어에 대한 개념을 정립하고, 구조와 제작기법을 조사하였다. 선행연구를 토대로 보다 정확한 형태학적 조사가 이루어졌으며, 육안관찰 및 분석기기를 이용한 객관적인 데이터를 기반으로 보존처리 과정을 수립하였다. 조사결과 X선 촬영을 통해 육안으로는 관찰이 불가능하였던 내부구조와 금속의 부식정도를 파악하고, 동개 표면에 금속성을 띠는 칠층의 균열과 분포를 확인할 수 있었다. X선 형광분석기를 이용해 확인한 두석의 성분은 평균적으로 동개-A의 Cu는 69.2%, Zn은 27%이며, 동개-B의 Cu는 70.7%, Zn은 25.9%로 분석되어 두 동개의 두석은 모두 황동으로 분석되었다. 유물조사와 선행연구를 토대로 처리 방안을 수립하였으며, 그 계획에 따라 보존처리를 진행하였다. 유물표면의 칠층 박락 우려로 인해 세척과 표면 안정화 처리를 동시에 실행하였으며, 가죽의 재질별 특성에 따라 수분 주입의 방법과 양을 달리하며 점차적으로 형태 교정을 진행하였다. 표면으로부터 탈락된 내피를 다시 배접하기 위해 두석을 해체를 하였으며, 두석이 있었던 바탕 가죽 표면에 금분으로 그려진 문양이 관찰되었다. 문양이 그려진 칠층 역시 표면에서 들떠 있어 안정화 처리를 하였고, 내피를 재배접 해주고 두석을 박는 것으로 보존처리를 완료하였다.

영문 초록

Traditional quivers (donggae) possessed by National Palace Museum of Korea show differences in form to other quivers. Therefore, this study defines the term and concept of quivers first and then analyzes their structure and production technique. Based on preceding research, this study conducted more accurate morphological investigation and established conservation procedures using data gained from visual observation and analytical instruments. Through roentgenography, the internal structure and degree of metal corrosion of the quivers not visible to the naked eye were identified, and the distribution of the metallic paint layer on the surface and cracking in the paint was confirmed. X-ray fluorescence spectrometer investigation results showed that the ingredients of quiver A’s metal decorations (duseok) had an average composition of 69.2% Cu and 27% Zn, while the corresponding figures for quiver B were 70.7% Cu and 25.9% Zn.). Therefore, the metal decorations of both quivers were made of brass. Based on such investigation of the artifacts and preceding research, conservation procedures were established conservation work was carried out accordingly. Due to concerns of exfoliation of the surface paint layer, cleaning and surface stabilization treatment were executed simultaneously. Also, depending on the characteristics of the leather of each artifact, the amount of water injected was adjusted accordingly to gradually restore the original form. The metal ornaments were dismantled in order to reattach the inner lining which had become detached from the surface, and in the process patterns drawn in gold powder were observed at on leather surface beneath the ornaments. Stabilizing treatment was conducted on the paint layer of these patterns. The work was completed by laying the metal ornaments back on the surface and reattaching the inner lining.
