흑요석 산지연구에 사용되는 지구화학 자료와 해석

국문 초록

흑요석의 산지연구를 위해 지구화학 자료의 획득과 자료 해석의 방법을 제안하고자한다. 지구화학 분석에 앞서 흑요석 시료의 형상과 균질성 여부를 확인하고, 시료의 어느 부분을 분석할 지 그리고 어떤 형태로 분석할지를 선택하며, 그 다음으로 분석하고자 하는 원소의 종류에 따른 측정기기를 결정한다. 사용하는 기기와 자료의 질에 대한 고려가 필요한데 기기측정에서의 정밀도, 정확도 및 검출 한계를 파악하는 것이 자료의 질을 결정하는 중요 인자가 된다. 현장에서 활용이 용이한 기기의 경우 대략적인 함량 범위를 도출하기에 용이하지만, 자료 신뢰도의 문제가 항상 존재하기 때문에 보다 정밀한 기기측정법으로 획득된 자료와 비교·검토하는 것이 바람직하다. 여러 지역의 흑요석들을 비교함에 있어 가능한 동일한 측정법으로 획득된 자료를 서로 비교하는 것이 권장되지만, 그렇지 못할 경우 신뢰도가 비교적 높은 자료들끼리의 비교가 요구된다. 흑요석과 같은 지질 시료의 경우 그 지구화학 조성은 같이 수반되는 화산암류의 조성과 성인적으로 밀접하게 연관되어 있다. 따라서 흑요석을 비교 대상으로 하더라도 화산암류와의 상관을 통해 지구화학적 변화경향을 살펴야 한다. 즉, 원소들의 절대적인 함량 비교보다는 마그마의 성인과 분화과정에 대한 검토로부터 함량 변화의 차이를 도출하는 것이 바람직하다

영문 초록

This paper suggests how to acquire geochemical data and to interpret the data on the study of obsidian source. Prior to the geochemical analysis we should check the morphology and homogeneity of obsidian samples, and then decide which part of the samples to be analyzed, and finally select the more adequate instrument for the analysis. In addition we should examine the level of precision, accuracy and detection limit for the instrument. Though the portable instruments are easy to use in the field and to get the rough range of chemical composition, they have critical limitation on the uncertainty of the data. Thus the data acquired by the portable instruments should be compared with those by higher resolution analytical systems. The geochemical data acquired by the same analytical method are most appropriate for the comparative study, but if not the case it is highly recommended that more reliable data should be compared with each other. Obsidian is a kind of geological material; thus the geochemistry of the obsidian has closely related to that of the accompanied volcanic rocks. This is why we should examine the geochemical variation trend between the obsidian samples and the volcanic rocks. For the study on the obsidian source we should deduce the cause of the compositional contrast from the volcanic magma genesis and differentiation, rather than from the chemical content itself.
