학부모들이 인지하는 자녀의 가정 내 미디어 사용 실태 조사 연구

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 학부모들이 인식하는 초등학생 자녀의 가정 내 미디어 사용 실태를 파악하고자 한다. 구체적으로 학부모들이 자녀의 미디어 사용에 대해 어떻게 인식하고 있는지에 기본 관심을 두고, 자녀의 학년, 성별 및 돌봐줄 사람의 유무에 따라 가정 내의 미디어 사용 태도나 환경에 대해 어떠한 인식의 차이나 특성을 보이는지를 살펴보고자 한다. 이 연구 결과를 요약, 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학부모들은 자녀의 인터넷과 TV 사용 실태에 대해 비교적 긍정적이고 바람직하게 여기고 있다. 단, 남아를 둔 학부모가 여아를 둔 학부모보다 자녀의 인터넷 사용 등으로 인한 스트레스와 갈등을 더 겪고 있는 것으로 나타난 반면, 여아를 둔 학부모가 남아를 둔 학부모보다 대화와 커뮤니케이션을 더 활발히 하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 한편, 컴퓨터와 TV 사용으로 인한 부모자녀 간의 갈등과 스트레스는 초등학교 중학년 정도에서 시작되는 현상으로 보인다. 또한, 돌봐줄 어른이 없는 경우, TV와 컴퓨터에 아이들이 노출될 기회가 더 많아서 이로 인해 갈등을 많이 받고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 학부모들은 미디어 교육을 미디어를 활용 교육이라고 인식하는 경우가 많았고, 인터넷과 TV사용에 대한 학부모 교육의 필요성은 64.8%가 필요하다고 느끼고 있었으며, 학부모 대상 미디어 교육의 기회가 있을 때 참여할 의사를 묻는 질문에는 53.4%의 학부모가 참여하겠다고 응답하였다.

영문 초록

This research aims to understand the actual state of elementary school students use of media at their home, recognized by their parents. More concretely, a focus is basically laid on how the parents recognize the use of media by their children, so as to know differences and/or features of the parents recognition of their child s attitudes or practices to use of media at home, considering the child s school year and sex and if he/she has a caretaker or not. The following are the summarized results of this research. First, the parents have a relatively positive and advisable notion of the actual condition of their children s use of internet and TV. The parents of female children feel less stress and conflict about their use of internet and others than those of male children. In contrast, the parents of female students have more active dialogues and communications with their children than those of males. Meanwhile, it seems that the stress and conflict between parents and children caused by the use of computers and/or TV usually begin from a time when the children are a middle grader of an elementary school. Moreover, in case the children have no caretaker, they may be exposed to TV and computers more often, which brings about many conflicts. Second, many parents recognize that media education is just an education using media and 64.8% of the respondents to the questionnaire survey feel that it is necessary for parents to be trained in the use of internet and TV. 53.4% of the respondents said that, if such an opportunity is offered, they would willingly participate in training parents in the use of media.
