일본 煎茶道 성립배경에 나타나는 문화적 현상

국문 초록

일본의 차문화, 차노유(茶の湯)와 전다도(煎茶道)는 정신문화와 생활문화의 기반을 이루고 있는 양대 산맥으로서, 전통문화와 생활문화라는 위치를 점하고 있다. 그리고 죠닌과 차노유문화는 전다도 발생과 불가분의 관계를 갖고 있다. 즉, 죠닌의 등장과 차노유 문화는 전다도가 등장하는 촉진제 역할과 그 배경을 제공하고 있다. 에도시대의 도시발생은 막대한 경제력을 수반한 죠닌(町人)계급을 대두시켰다. 그리고 구도와 수행을 우선시하는 기존의 차노유문화를 변화시키는 요인을 제공한다. 즉 차노유 문화는 경제력을 보유한 죠닌의 신분상승의 지표가 되었다. 그리고 놀이문화라는 또 다른 모습인 遊藝로 변화된다. 차노유문화는 이에모토(家元)제도를 성립시키고 스승에게 수업료를 내고 배우며, 즐기는 경제시스템이 형성된다. 그리고 하코가키라는 새로운 문화는 수익성이라는 측면에서 비판의 대상이 되기도 한다. 그리고 수익성만을 지향하는 茶界의 지도자와 물질적 문화로 변질되어가는 차문화를 즐기는 계층이 증가된다. 이러한 차노유의 유예화에 대해 차계 내·외의 비판이 이어진다. 차노유의 유예화 비판은 전다도의 등장을 촉진시킨다. 전다도는 중국 불교인 황벽종과 청아한 풍류인 명·청의 문인취미가 일본에 전래되면서 에도(江戶) 중기 성립된 잎차문화이다.

영문 초록

Chanoyu (茶の湯) and Senchadō (煎茶道) are the two pillars of Japanese tea culture and the foundations of traditional Japanese mentality and the way of life. These are Japanese traditional cultures, but also still being practiced as living cultures. Chanoyu and Senchadō have inseparable relations, since Chanoyu provided the background and eventually triggered the birth of Senchadō. During Edo period, many cities were flourished and wealthy Chōnin (町人, townsman ) class emerged in the cities. Chōnins had changed the original Chanoyu practices, which focused upon truth seeking and asceticism. Chanoyu had become a symbol of escalated social status of wealthy Chōnins, and Yuugei (遊藝), the way of enjoying tea as leisure, stemmed from Chanoyu. Chanoyu created Iemoto (家元,“Grand Master”) system and a new custom of paying the Iemotos in order to learn the way of enjoying tea from them. And a newly created custom call Hakogaki (箱書), the inscriptions written on tea cups by Iemotos to certify their value, was criticized for being too commercialized. The leaders of the tea circle started to pursue economic gains, and a growing number of people enjoyed only the formality of the tea culture. Chanoyu as a kind of leisure raised many concerned voices in and outside of the tea circle. Senchadō was born as an alternative of the deformed Chanoyu. Senchadō is the way of enjoying leaf tea instead of powdered green tea, which was established in the mid Edo period. Ōbaku-shū (黄檗宗), a sect of Chinese Buddhism, and elegant manners of the literary circle of Ming and Qing dynasties affected the spirit and formality of Senchadō.
