영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to analyze production efficiency using the concept of stochastic production frontier and profit maximization in Korean manufacturing. Data used in this study is pooled one of time-series and regional cross-section data, which guarantees enough degrees of freedom for efficient estimation. The major research results could be summarized as follows. According to the estimation results of technical inefficiency, there have been about seven percent of production loss in the production process. Therefore, much effort is required to reduce those technical inefficiencies. The estimated allocative inefficiencies of capital and labor show that capital and labor have not been used effectively; in other words, the necessary conditions of profit maximization are not satiated. Hence, it is also desired to control the magnitudes of inputs.
