영문 초록

This paper aims at a reappraisal of Network Theory with regard to its possibility as a new froniter theory of regional studies. Network Theory is broadly regarded as part of the so-called New Social Economy with its focus on explaining the socio-institutional characteristics of new industrial paradigm called flexible specialization. The spatialization of network relations under the new industrial paradigm has given rise to a new model of regional space characterized as network region. Network Theory provides us with a fresh insight into the paradigmic features of network region which is best appreciated from a poststructuralist or postmodernist angle. Overall it is concluded that the addition of regional dimension into Network Theory leads to a rise of postmodern regional theory from the field of regional studies.
