영문 초록

Even though the deindustrialization is a recent trend, the manufacturing industries suitable for the cities have taken an important position in the current economic system. So we need to focus on the inner city industrial districts in metropolis. This study analyzes the functional characteristics of inner city industrial districts in terms of flexible accumulation. It is based on the analysis of the industrial location, industrial restructuring, and the function of the industrial estate, which is affected by flexible production system. The characteristics around inner city are considered as well. The major summary of this study is as follows. First, the inner city industrial districts have played an important role as an incubator very well. Second, the inner city industrial districts have sufficient labor markets. Third, the firms have close industrial linkages one another. Forth, they don`t have products structure and business structure which are vulnerable to produce unstandard products. As mentioned, the inner city industrial districts have close industrial networks, and function as a good incubator with sufficient labor markets. It can be concluded that their roles and functions are similar to the new industrial districts. So industrial location policy in metropolis must be implemented to make the industrial estate small, to focus on small firms, and to consider production linkages for adjusting to a flexible production system.
