영문 초록

The crux of this paper is to empirically explore the relations between local finance and regional industry. That is, this paper identifies what sort of regional manufactures are substantially associated with the encouragement of the local tax. The pooled time-series data, pooling time series data (1990-1995) and cross-sectional data (6 metropolitan cities) is used for this study. The major findings from this emipirical paper are as follows: (1) The consumption manufacture, the capital manufacture and the other manufacture have positive effect on the encouragement of the local tax. However, it was found that the consumption manufacture rather than the capital manufacture played more important role in contributing to the increase of local tax. (2) D15 (food products and beverages), D17 (manufacture of textile) and D22 (publishing, printing and recording) of six consumption manufacture were found to be positively associated with the growth of local tax. (3) Both D25 (manufacture of rubber and plastics products) and D26 (non-metalic mineral products) of six intermediate manufacture were likely to positively be associated with enhancing local tax. (4) D31 (elecfrical machinery and apparatus N. E. C.), D33 (manufacture for medical, precision and optical) and D35 (other transport equipment) rather than five other capital manufacture were found to be more associated with the growth of local tax. (5) D36 (manufacture of furniture and N. E. C.) of two other manufacture was found to be positively associated with the growth of local tax. This information provides a guide to direct policy inputs in ways most likely to strengthen local finance.
