영문 초록

The study tried to analyze the Community-Based Integrated Rural Development (CBIRD) program in terms of organizational viability. The research paradigm was integrative in that both managerial and environmental variables were considered for explaining the organizational viability of the Community Development Committees. The statistical analyses of multi-variate causal relationships, multiple regression, canonical correlation, showed that the managerial factors such as people`s mobilization and leadership were highly associated with organizational performance, which determined organizational viability. Such situational factor as community power structure did not determine organizational climate directly, but did determine it through both task-and relations-oriented leadership. Among the external environmental variables, ease in fund raising was closely related to effectiveness of fund use. The results implied that both environmental and managerial factors affected organizational performance and viability. It seemed, however, that external environmental variables determined organizational performance in long-term basis.
