요한복음서의 성령에 대한 의미론적 접근

국문 초록

이 글에서 우리는 요한복음서의 성령에 대한 연구를 통해 요한 공동체가 성령을 어떻게 이해하고 받아들였는지 살펴보았다. 요한복음서에서 성령을 가리키는 용어로는 신약성경 여러 곳에서 사용되는 ‘영’과 ‘성령’, 그리고 요한복음서에만 나오고 ‘진리의 영’이라고도 일컬어지는 ‘협조자’가 있다. 이 용어들과 관련하여 텍스트에서 제기되는 문제들과 그에 대한 의미 분석은 요한복음서에 나타난 성령의 고유한 개념과 다양한 역할을 파악할 수 있게 해 준다. 우선, ‘영’은 생명을 줄 뿐 아니라 생명 그 자체를 가리키는데, 그것은 인간이 그리스도 안에서 살 때 받게 되는 선물이다. 요한복음서에서는 다른 복음서들과는 달리 삼위가 이루는 관계 안에서 예수님의 역할이 강조되고 있다. 부활하신 예수님께서 주시는 성령은 예수님께서 보내 주시겠다고 약속하신 바로 그 ‘협조자’이시다. ‘협조자’는 예수님과 같은 기원, 신원, 본질을 지닌 분이지만 예수 그리스도께서 영광을 받으신 후에야 오신다. ‘협조자’는 예수님의 역사적 계시를 전달하고 해석해 주심으로써 사람들이 이미 ‘보고 들은’ 진리를 기억하고 이해하며 그 의미를 깨닫도록 도와주실 것이다. ‘진리의 영’이라는 호칭은 이러한 협조자의 역할을 잘 나타내고 있다. 요한복음서의 강조점은 무엇보다도 예수님께서 떠나가신 후에 예수님의 지상 사명을 지속시키고 완성하며, 그럼으로써 현재적인 전망(실현된 구원론)과 미래적인 전망을 통합시키는 성령의 역할에 있다. 그래서 요한복음서는 성령의 은사에 대해서는 관심을 기울이지 않는다. 요한복음서의 성령론은 그리스도인의 실천적인 원리에 초점이 맞추어져 있다고 볼 수 있다. 성령은 인간을 사람됨의 새로운 차원으로 이끄시는 거룩하고도 실천적인 영이어서 성령을 따라 사는 그리스도인은 생명력이 넘치는 성화의 길로 나아가게 된다.

영문 초록

In this dissertation, through the reflections on the Spirit in the Gospel of John, I have looked how the Holy Spirit was understood and accepted in the community of John. To designate the Holy Spirit, the Gospel of John uses terms like ‘Spirit’ or ‘Holy Spirit’ mentioned several places in the New testament and also ‘collaborator’ known as ‘Spirit of Truth’. ‘Collaborator’ is used only in the Gospel of John. The problems concerned with those terms in the text and the analysis on each meanings of them to see the unique concept and various roles of the Holy Spirit in the Gospel of John. First of all, the ‘Spirit’ gives the life, but also designates the life itself. It is a gift that one can receive when living in Christ. Unlike the other Gospels, the Gospel of John emphasizes the role of the Jesus in Trinity. The ‘Holy Spirit’ given by the resurrected Jesus is the ‘collaborator’ which he promised to send. The ‘collaborator’ is the one who has the same origin, the same identity, and the same essence as Jesus, but coming only after Jesus Christ receiving the honor. The ‘collaborator’ will help the people to remember and to understand the truth that they have ‘already seen and heard’ from the passing and interpreting the historical revelation of Jesus to apprehend it’s meaning. The title, ‘Spirit of Truth’ is used well in this role of the collaborator. The emphasis of the Gospel of John is on the role of the Holy Spirit after Jesus’ leaving to continue and to complete the mission to integrate the current outlook (realized soteriology) and future perspectives. So the Gospel of John does not pay attention to the gifts of the Spirit. Instead, it focuses on the principles of the Christian’s practice. The Holy Spirit is practical Spirit which leads the people into a new dimension of a human being. The Christians who live according to the Holy Spirit will progress their sacred way of life in vitality.
