국문 초록

본 논의는 코미디 애니메이션 『라따뚜이』의 미학적 수사를 논하려는 것이 아니다. 본 논문은 첫째로 도입-전개-발단-위기-반전-결말이라는 아리스토텔레스적 스토리 구조에서, 코미디의 가장 기본적 요소인 웃음과 해학의 반복 빈도와 같은 양적 데이터를 분석의 틀로 삼았다. 두 번째로 이 데이터가 인지서사학자 보드웰의 원형도식, 주형도식, 절차도식 등의 흐름에 따라 X, Y, Z 축을 중심으로 행위로 드러나는 웃음과 해학이 유머와 풍자의 코미디적 인지요소로 변화하면서, 얼마나 드라마틱 아크와 일치하는 구조로 유형화되는지를 비주얼화하여 분석한다. 이는 장르의 시학을 논한 아리스토텔레스 이론과 보드웰의 인지서사 이론 사이의 도식적 일체감이 있음을 과학적으로 검증하는 작업이 된다. 여기서 본 필자의 기본 가설인 스토리텔링 아키텍처를 통해 작가의 의도와 시공간 상의 작품 인물들 간의 ‘행동-생각’ 사이의 교차점에서 스토리가 어느 정도 시청자의 감성적인 흐름과 고저를, 즉 웃음과 해학의 행동과 유머와 풍자의 생각 사이를, 패턴화하고 있는지를, 세 번째로 검증한다. 결국 본 논문은 애니메이션 『라따뚜이』를 분석하면서, 작가의 글쓰기 과정과 시청자의 작품 이해 과정을 기존의 플롯 이론이나 스토리로 파악하지 않고, 작품 감상의 인지 알고리즘을 패턴화하는 과정으로 보고, 그것을 스토리텔링 아키텍처라는 과학적, 공학적 개념으로 정의한다. 이 스토리텔링 아키텍처라는 서사인지 도식을 양적인 데이터로 검증하고, 그 인지 감성의 패턴을 찾아서 비주얼로 도식화하면서 인문학적 서사이론과 인지과학의 과학적 검증이 일치됨을 증명함으로써, 인문학과 과학의 융합점을 찾아내려고 시도가 된다.

영문 초록

This paper does not aim to discuss the aesthetical aspects in the comedy Ratatouille, but to analyze and visualize its cognitive narrative schema in statistical terms. I have aimed to focalize David Bordwell’s cognitive film theory on prototype, template, and procedure schemata in order to develop and represent a storytelling architecture, in which the readers can build some emotions and cognitions as they follow the storylines intertwined between the writers’ thematic intention and the character’s ‘action-idea’ in a setting of time and space. This paper shows the three charts of storytelling architecture: 1) the relative structure between Aristotle’s dramatic arc and the flow of emotion and cognition in the storyline, 2) Aristotle’s plot structure and its relation to the writers’ intention along with the character’s assumption based on the ‘action-idea’, and 3) the relationship between the reader’s schematized narrative cognition and Bordwell’s theory of prototype, template, and procedure schemata. And then I have discussed the above three charts to show the parallels with an archetypical pattern of comedy based on numbers of humor and satire in Ratatuouille.
