청소년 자녀가 지각한 부모의 공감능력이 신앙발달에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 청소년 자녀가 지각한 부모의 공감능력이 자존감과 신앙발달에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 살펴보는 것이다. 애착관계이론에 의하면 부모와의 안정적인 정서적 교류가 자존감 향상에 영향을 미치며 더 나아가 성인기에 인식하는 하나님에 대한 개념에도 긍정적인 영향을 미친다고 보고한다. 이러한 애착의 요소 중 하나가 바로 공감이다. 공감은 의미적으로 ‘함께 아파한다’ 또는 ‘다른 사람의 생각과 감정을 이해하는 것’ 이다. 기존의 선행연구를 분석하면 공감이 아동 및 청소년의 정서발달에 중요한 영향을 미치며 더 나아가 사회성 발달에도 영향을 미치는 것으로 조사되었다. 성경에서도 긍휼은 하나님의 대표적인 속성으로 범죄한 인간을 품으시고 고통 당하는 인류를 구원하시는 중요한 동기로 묘사되고 있다. 본 연구는 통계분석방법을 활용한 양적연구로서 총 15개 교회에서 234개의 설문지가 분석에 사용되었다. 본 연구의 결과 여학생의 부모공감 인식이 남학생보다 더 높았으며 고등학생이 중학생보다 더 높았다. 또한 학생이 신앙생활을 오래할수록 부모와의 공감이 더 잘 되었으며 어머니와 아버지의 신앙이 좋을수록 자녀에 대한 공감이 더 잘 나타나는 것으로 조사되었다. 한편 부모와의 대화가 원활하게 잘 되는 집단이 그렇지 않은 집단보다 공감능력이 더 높게 나타나서 부모와의 대화가 매우 중요함을 밝혀내었다. 한편 어머니의 감정정서반응과 아버지의 관점수용이 청소년의 자존감에 가장 결정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 조사되었다. 또한 아버지의 정서지각과 어머니의 관점수용이 하나님과의 관계성을 나타내는 척도인 Awareness와 Realistic acceptance에 영향을 미치는 것으로 조사되었다. 이와 같은 결과를 토대로 부모공감이 취약한 계층에 대한 상담적 도움, 적극적인 신앙생활, 자녀 신앙의 주 책임자인 부모교육, 아버지의 인지적 역할과 어머니의 인지적 역할의 조화가 필요함을 역설하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to research the effect of parental empathy perceived by adolescents on adolescents’ self-esteem and spiritual development. According to attachment theory, a stable emotional relationship with parents affects adolescents’ self-esteem and spiritual development as well. Empathy is one aspect of attachment in psychology area. Empathy defines as ‘understanding other people’ s emotion and thinking’ or ‘sharing other’ s pain and difficulty.’ Previous research has reported that empathy affects emotional and social development for children and adolescents. In the Bible, empathy is used as a theological term ‘mercy’ or ‘compassion’ which reflects God’ s nature toward human being. In this study, the researcher contacted 15 churches and responded 234 adolescents who have Christian faith. Results showed that there was a statistical difference on perceived empathy between boy and girl group(boy < girl). There was a significant difference on perceived empathy between middle school student and high school student group (middle < high). There was a significant difference in the level of parent’ s faith (less group < more group). There was a statistical different in the level of conversation with parents (less group < more group). Results also showed that mother’ s emotional reaction and father’ s cognitive acceptance affected adolescent’ s selfesteem. Also father’ s emotional cognition and mother’ s perspective acceptance toward his/her kids affected ‘Awareness of God,’ and ‘Realistic acceptance’ as an indicator of mature spiritual development. Based on the results, the researcher suggested 4 implications: helping low empathy level students, facilitating active Christian life for adolescents, educating parents, balancing mother and father’ s empathy role in the family.
