국문 초록

이 글은 칼빈의 성례 신학(sacramental theology)을 개혁주의 신학의 관점에서 구체적으로 밝힌다. 성례 신학은 성례성(sacramentality)과 성례들(sacraments)의 구체적인 의미와 그것이 함축하는 것들을 다룬다. 개혁주의 신학은 하나님의 임재를 의식에서뿐만 아니라 일상의 삶에서 경험하는 신앙의 과제로 제시한다. 이러한 성례신학의 폭넓은 관점을 지닌 개혁주의 신학은 예배학의 핵심 주제인 성례신학에 큰 기여를 하고 있다. 특별히 하나님의 임재 경험과 그 방식과 관련해서 개혁주의 신학은 네 가지 특징을 지닌다. 그것은 곧 하나님의 자기화해(accommodation), 언약 사상에 근거한 연합, 성령의 위치와 역할에 대한 강조, 그리고 교회의 표지에 대한 사도적 연결성이다. 하나님의 임재 경험과 관련한 이 네 가지 개혁주의신학의 특징은 칼빈의 성례신학을 이해하는 해석의 틀을 제공한다. 칼빈은 자신의 문헌과 실천을 통해서 하나님의 임재 경험과 그 방식에 대한 이러한 네 가지 개혁주의 신학의 측면을 발전시켰다. 특별히 칼빈은 하나님의 임재를 의식으로서의 예배에서뿐만 아니라 삶의 자리에서도 경험하는 확대된 이해를 구체화시켰다. 곧, 칼빈은 하나님의 주도권, 언약, 성령, 그리고 교회의 사도적 연속성에 근거한 자신의 신학적 확신을 따라 성례성과 성례에 대한 이해를 발전시켰다. 오늘날 칼빈과 개혁주의 전통을 따르는 한국의 개혁주의 기독교가 지닌 성례신학의 과제는 성례 의식뿐만 아니라 일상의 삶에서도 지속적으로 하나님의 임재를 이해하고 실천하는 방식을 지속하는 것이다.

영문 초록

Sacramental theology deals with the meanings and implications of sacramentality and sacraments. Liturgical theologians in each denomination have been arguing the meanings and implications of sacramentality and sacraments. Human encountering the presence of God as the core theme of sacramental theology has been also a key theological discipline in the Reformed theology. The Reformed theology emphasizes human encountering the divine presence mainly through the Word; but it has not much explored the meanings and specific ways of experiencing God from holistic perspective. This paper attempts to figure out the Reformed thought of encountering God’s presence by exploring Calvin’s understanding on the sacramental union with God. First, this paper articulates hermeneutical frames of the Reformed understanding on the presence of God: God’s accommodation, Union with God based on the covenant, significant place and role of the Holy Spirit, and Apostolic connection (sacraments as the signs of the church). Second, with an interpretative frame of the sacramentality in the Reformed tradition, this paper explores Calvin’s understanding of the presence and the acts of God in both ordinary life and liturgical activities. This section argues that Calvin developed the Reformed thought of sacramentality and sacraments based on his theological conviction of God’s sovereignty, covenantal relationship between God and human beings, active working of the Holy Spirit, and apostolic signs of the Church. Lastly, this paper briefly suggests how the Korean Reformed Christianity could develop and articulate the contemporary understanding and practice of the presence of God in the sacramental rites and ordinary life.
