국문 초록

본 논문의 목적은 군선교에 관한 중요성과 신학적 의의를 논의하고, 현재 진행되고 있는 ‘Vision 2020’ 운동에 관한 평가와 신중히 재고(再考)해야 할 신학적 질문을 고찰하는데 있다. 군선교는 오늘날 한국교회의 성장정체를 탈피할 수 있는 중요한 동력이다. 아울러 지구촌 마지막 분단국가로서의 대한민국이 국가안보를 준비하는데 있어 가장 효율적인 방법이다. 그러나 군선교가 지지받는 가장 중요한 이유는 소위 ‘정당전쟁론’ (Just War)으로 불리는 신학적 입장 때문이다. 평화주의(Pacifism)나 행동주의(Activism)와는 달리, 정당전쟁론은 ‘하나님의 공의로운 심판’ 에 중점을 둔다. 집단적 악에 대해 군대는 하나님의 심판을 대행하고, 하나님의 공의로움을 드러내는 중요한 수단으로 사용되는 것이다. 군선교 전략을 이해하기 위해 오늘날 군대조직의 상황이해가 필수적이다. 군조직은“계급사회, 획일성, 다종교의 특성”을 지닌 특수집단이다. 군조직은 평등보다는 계급주의를 지향하고, 획일성을 강조하면서도 종교와 문화에 관해서는 다원적인 집단이다. 그리고 오늘날 신세대로서의 군인은 수직적 사고보다는 수평적 사고에 더 익숙하다. 이런 상황에서, 최근 사회적 이슈인 젊은 청년들의 현격한 인구감소는 군선교의 어려움을 분명히 드러낸다. 이와 같은 현실을 인식할 때 현재 ‘Vision 2020’ 실천전략 운동은 신학적 재고가 필수불가결하다. 첫째, 집단개종으로 진중세례를 받은 장병들은 진정한 회심을 했는가? 둘째, 현재의 군선교는 ‘Vision 2020’ 운동이 시작할 때인 1990년대와 견주어 볼 때 비슷한 상황인가? 마지막으로, 다원주의를 지향하는 군조직의 특수한 문화 속에서 어떻게 군선교는 예수 그리스도의 유일성에 관한 복음을 전할 것인가? 그러므로 오늘날 군선교는 이런 신학적 쟁점들에 관한 분명한 이해와 함께 효율적인 선교전략을 수립하고 복음화운동을 전개해 나가야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the importance and theological significance of military ministry and to consider the theological questions that need to be carefully contemplate and evaluate the ‘Vision 2020’ movement. Military ministry is a important driving force in breaking the stagnation of growth of today’ s churches in Korea. Also, it is the most efficient way in improving national security as the only separated country in the world. The reason why military ministry is supported is the theological standpoint of ‘Just War.’ In contrast to pacifism and activism, ‘Just War’ focuses on the righteous judgment of God. Military carries out God’ s judgment against organized evil and is used as an important way to show God’ s righteousness. It is vital to understand the conditions of the military in order to understand military ministry strategies. The military is a special group with “hierarchy, uniformity, and multi-religion. ‘The military prefers hierarchy over equalness and while it stresses uniformity, it is pluralistic in religion and culture. Moreover, the military personnel today is more used to horizontal thinking than vertical thinking. In this aspect, the wide decrease in population of the youth is presenting difficulties in military ministry. In consideration of such realities, the ‘Vision 202’ movement needs a theological consideration. First, does the military personnel, who were baptized as a group, really change their minds? Second, are the situations of today’ s military ministry similar to the 90’ s when the ‘Vision 2020’ movement started? Finally, how can military ministry deliver the message of Jesus’ uniqueness in the military culture that seeks plurality? Therefore, today’ s military ministry must establish effective ministry strategies along with clear understanding of theological issues and develop a gospel movement accordingly.
