노년층의 인지-화용언어 능력에 관한 종단 연구

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 노년층의 인지-화용언어 능력의 변화를 영역별로 살펴보고, 수행력의 저하에 영향을 미치는 인구통계학적․경험적 변인들을 규명하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 55~74세의 정상 노년층 122명을 대상으로 인지-화용언어 능력을 평가한 후 2년 후 재평가를 실시하였다. 재평가에 참여한 58명의 1, 2차 수행력을 기준으로 ‘저하 집단’과 ‘유지 집단’으로 분류하였다. 또한, 연령, 교육년수, 월 생활비 등 인구통계학적 요인과 언어 경험, 디지털 문해 능력, 사회 활동 등 경험적 요인으로 구성된 설문을 통해 노년층의 인지-화용언어 능력을 저하시키는 데 영향을 미치는 주요 변인들을 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 두 집단은 1, 2차 평가 시 인지-화용언어 총점 및 지남력, 시지각력, 화용언어 등 8개 하위 영역에서 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 두 집단 간 영향 요인의 차이를 분석한 결과, 연령, 교육년수, 언어 경험, 디지털 문해 능력, 사회 활동 등 5개 요인들에서 유의한 차이를 나타내었다. 저하 집단의 인지-화용언어 능력과 영향 요인들 간의 상관성 측면에서는, 교육년수, 언어 경험, 디지털 문해 능력, 사회 활동이 문제해결력, 집행기능 등 다양한 하위 영역과 정적 상관관계를 보였다. 본 연구는 노년층의 인지-화용언어 능력이 저하되는 데 관여하는 변인들을 규명하고, 이들과 각 하위 영역 간의 상관성을 분석했다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 본 연구 결과는 정상 노년층의 인지-화용언어 능력을 유지하고 삶의 질적 향상을 도모하는 데 활용할 수 있을 것이다. 나아가, 치매 등 병리학적 대상군의 이해 및 예방에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

We examined the change of cognitive-pragmatic language in normal aging and the demographic/experiential influence of it on a longitudinal study. The participants of the first study were 122 older adults between 55 and 74 years. Based on the second assessment results from 58 participants, the groups were divided into two: 'decline group' and 'reserve group' in cognitive-pragmatic language. We also analyzed a questionnaire regarding the demographic/ experiential variables including age, education, cost of living, language experience, digital literacy, and social activity. The results from 2 assessments revealed significant differences in most of cognitive-pragmatic language domains between two groups. Five variables except cost of living were significantly associated with cognitive-pragmatic language decline. There were also significant correlations in education, language experience, digital literacy, social activity, and diverse cognitive-pragmatic language domains. The results suggest that a few demographic/experiential variables influence on the decline of cognitive-pragmatic language in normal aging. Our study also showed correlation among 6 variables and cognitive-pragmatic language domains. This results might contribute to improve the quality of life in normal aging, and to prevent the geriatric disease like dementia.
