국문 초록

이 연구는 서울과 춘천의 조사 자료를 바탕으로, 노인의 체화된 문화 자본의 효과와 결정 요인을 지역적 차이에 초점을 두고 분석하였다. 효과를 보면, 문화 자본은 조사 대상 노인들에게 월 수입 및 삶의 만족도에 긍정적인 영향을 주었다는 점이 주목할 만하다. 문화 자본의 결정 요인을 보면, 나이, 학령 및 지역이 중요했다. 관련 변수들 간의 관계를 지역적 차이를 중심으로 이해하기 위해, 서울, 춘천의 도시지역, 춘천의 농촌 지역으로 나누어 경로 분석을 실시한 결과, 문화 자본과 다른 변수들 간의 관계 및 효과가 지역별로 다르게 나타났다. 이러한 결과에 근거하며 급속도로 고령화하는 한국에서 앞으로 노인의 문화 자본이 보다 복잡한 인과 관계를 중심으로, 또한 지역적 차이에 주목하여 연구되어야 할 것과, 평생 교육과 같은 제도를 통해 노인들이 문화 자본이 유지되고 더욱 축적될 수 있는 정책이 강화되어야 함을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

This research analyzes effects and determinants of embodied cultural capital and regional differences in the way it operates, using an elderly survey data set from Seoul and Chuncheon. The effects show that, even for the elderly whose economic powers have generally weakened, cultural capital functions as a capital leading to financial profit, and that it also positively influences life satisfaction. Examining the determinants reveals that age, education, and region are statistically significant. Path analyses were done to better understand the relationship among the relevant variables respectively for Seoul, urban Chuncheon, and rural Chuncheon. Each region shows different relationships around cultural capital. Based on these findings, I suggest that 1) the elderly's cultural capital be further studied through more complex relationships with an emphasis on regional variations, and 2) policies supporting the maintenance and accumulation of the elderly's cultural capital need be enhanced, e. g., continuing education fully considering regional differences.
