국문 초록

2003년 이후 우리나라에서는 신드롬이라고 불릴 정도로 자살, 특히 동반자살이 급증하게 되어 사회문제로 대두되기 시작하였다. 그러나 동반자살을 동정으로 바라보는 시각이 많아지면서 이에 대한 대책은 미흡한 실정이다. 이는 분명 사회적 일탈행위이며, 가정폭력의 한 형태라 할 수 있으므로 이에 대한 예방책을 마련해야 할 때이다. 이 연구에서는 동반자살의 원인과 유형, 그 대책방안을 살펴보고자 한다. 조사를 위해 2000년부터 2004년까지 약 5년간 우리나라 10대 종합일간지에 보도된 사건 중 동반자살만 조사하여 건수, 발생장소 및 유형을 분석하여 그 문제점과 대책을 심도 깊게 짚어보도록 한다. 동반자살의 사전ㆍ사후대책방안으로 다음과 같은 점을 고려해 볼 수 있을 것이다. 사전 대책으로는 동반자살의 해결책으로 정부정책에 대한 홍보 및 가정내 빈곤극복을 위한 사회안전망의 구축, 가족정책 등의 필요성을 제기할 수 있다. 특히 정부차원에서 빈곤가정을 지원할 수 있는 구체적인 프로그램을 마련해야 한다. 또한 동반자살의 매개체가 되고 있는 인터넷사이트의 방지책으로 자살사이트의 접근부터 주의를 기울여야 할 것이다. 사후 대책으로는 자살에 실패한 생존자나 자살에 성공하고 남아 있는 생존가족에게 위기중재를 할 수 있도록 사후서비스지침을 교육ㆍ훈련하여 재발을 막도록 한다. 그리고 동반자살의 피해자인 아동들의 보호책을 마련해야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

Since 2003, the phenomenon of suicide, especially murder-suicide, in Korea has been increased sharply and has been regarded as one of serious social problems. As people treat it with sympathy more and more, however, it is difficult to study how to cope with the situation and take a measure to solve it. Murder-suicide is a socially maladaptive behavior and can be considered as one of the example for types of domestic violence. Therefore, a precautionary measure should be taken for it. This study aimed to examine causes and types of murder-suicide and to develop a countermeasure for the phenomenon. This study reviewed ten of Korean daily newspapers from 2000 to 2004, examined them focusing on murder-suicide cases to analyze the number, the place of the occurrence, and the types, and then investigated profoundly the problem related to the phenomenon and the countermeasures suggested. Followings can be considered as pre-post countermeasures for murder-suicide: As a pre-countermeasure for murder-suicide, it is needed to let the nation recognize the policies of the government related to the phenomenon and establish the network of social security to help the poor to overcome poverty at home. In particular, the government should establish concrete programs to support poor families. It is also required for the government to give attention to sites on the net that play a role as a medium of murder-suicide and to take a measure to prevent people from visiting the sites. As a post-countermeasure for murder-suicide, a program should be set up that educate and train survivors of murder-suicide or family members who lost their members by murder-suicide in order not to commit it again. In addition, there should be a plan to protect children who are the victims of murder-suicide.
