청소년들의 긴장, 부정적 감정의 경험과 사이버공간에서의 비행

국문 초록

이 연구는 애그뉴의 일반긴장이론을 검증함에 있어 부모관계, 학교부적응, 친구관계에서의 긴장과 그로 인해 경험하는 부정적 감정이 청소년의 현실 그리고 사이버공간에서의 비행에 미치는 영향력을 다룬다. 아울러 이 연구는 긴장의 영향력을 남녀 청소년에게 각각 적용해 봄으로써 그 상이점을 발견하려고 한다. 서울시 남녀 중, 고등학교 청소년을 대상으로 조사한 결과에 따르면 사이버공간에서의 비행을 설명함에 있어 일반긴장이론의 적용가능성을 어느 정도 지지했다. 그러나 본 연구의 예측대로 긴장의 영향력이 남녀에 따라, 그리고 현실비행과 사이버공간에서의 비행에 따라 다를 수 있다는 것을 나타냈다. 현실비행의 경우에서는 기존 연구결과에서처럼 주로 남자의 경우에서, 그리고 우울보다는 화가 중요한 작용을 하는 것으로 나타났으나, 사이버공간에서의 비행의 경우는 본 연구의 예측대로 화이외에도 우울의 작용이 유의미한 것으로 나타났고, 따라서 여자청소년의 비행을 잘 설명할 수 있는 것으로 조사되었다. 그럼에도 이 연구에서는 다른 이론에서의 요인들, 즉 비행친구와의 접촉과 낮은 자기통제력이 현실에서의 비행이나 사이버공간에서의 비행을 더욱 더 잘 설명한다는 것을 나타내, 나름대로 일반긴장이론의 한계를 제시했다.

영문 초록

This study tests Agnew's general strain theory and assesses whether stains(conflict with parents, problems in school activity, and problems with peers, etc) and negative emotions have a major role in explaining both off-line and on-line delinquency. We also applies a general strain theory to questions about gender and delinquency: whether it predicts both male and female delinquency. Using data from 1114 male and female middle/high school students in Seoul, 2003, this study finds the effects of strains from parents, school, and peer relationships on delinquency are different across gender. In addition, results show that anger is a significant effect on off-line delinquency in male students, but both anger and depression are significant effects on on-line delinquency. Especially, the effect of depression on delinquency in cyber spaces is significant in female cases. These results support hypotheses that a general strain theory is applicable to female delinquency in cyber spaces. Nevertheless, results reveal that lower self control or associations with delinquent friends are more important factors in explaining both off-line and on-line delinquency.
