『含忍錄』에 나타난 樊巖 蔡濟恭의 華夷觀

국문 초록

역사적으로 보면 尊王은 춘추시대 周室에 대한 존숭의 의미이다. 관중의 尊王攘夷는 華夏族의 우월의식이 서린 民族主義이다. 이는 주나라의 禮義文化를 자기 정체성으로 삼고 夷狄으로부터 華夏를 보호하려는 차원에서 시작되었다. 존왕양이에서 발전한 用夏變夷는 공자나 맹자를 통해 나타난 文化的 華夷觀이다. 이는 이적도 화하와 같은 사람이기에 예의로 교화하면 화하가 될 수 있고 화하도 예의를 버리면 이적이 될 수 있음을 이른다. 존왕양이는 역대 왕조에서 漢族이 중원에서 嫡子的 正統性을 확보하지 못했을 경우 어김없이 발현되는 민족주의였다. 용하변이의 문화적 화이관은 이민족을 흡수하여 한족의 세력을 늘리는 방편으로 이용되기도 한다. 임진왜란 이전의 조선은 중국에 대해 독립적인 의식을 갖고 있었다. 하지만 임난 이후는 중국 원병의 도움을 받은 관계로 상황은 많이 달라진다. 전후에 집권층들은 국난 극복의 공로를 대부분 명의 참전 덕택으로 돌려서 그 은덕을 再造之恩으로까지 심화시켜, 명군을 불러온 공적이 자신들에게 있음을 부각시키면서 그간의 패배와 파천으로 실추된 권위를 만회하려고했다. 조선 후기 화이론적 대청 의식은 당색이나 세대에 상관없는 보편적인 사고였지만, 중국과 일본의 존왕양이 같은 배타적 민족주의와는 다르다. 조선의 존왕양이는 용하변이의 문화적 존주 의식에서 출발하며, 그 존주의 대상이 망국 명나라였다는데 핵심이 있다. 『含忍錄』은 번암이 燕京에 갔다가 돌아오는 사행길에서 지은 시이다. 조선과 명나라의 역사적으로 아픈 기억을 동병상련으로 감정이입하여 두 나라를 異國視하지 않으려는 경향과 명의 멸망 이후 漢文物이 오직 조선에만 남아있다는 소중화 의식을 보인다. 『함인록』에서 보이는 소중화적 존왕양이는 당시 조선사회의 시대의식과 궤를 같이하는 정서적 측면의 모습이나, 청국의 번성한 상업경제에 대한 인식 또한 없지 않았으니, 그의 존왕양이 의식이 국수적 경직성에 매몰되지는 않은 듯하다.

영문 초록

The Book of Poetry called Haminlok『(含忍錄)』 had been written by Bunam(樊巖) Chae Je-gong(蔡濟恭) on the way back and forth as an envoy to Yeonkyeong(燕京). In history the meaning of the Zonwang(尊王) was a respect for Ju(周) dynasty. The Zonwangyangyi(尊王攘夷) from Guanjung (管仲) was a kind of a movement of a nationalism of Hwahazok(華夏族). This began from the old Ju Dynasty for the protection of Hwaha(華夏) from Barbarian. The Yonghabyeonyi(用夏變夷) had been developed from Zonwangyangyi and it was view of Chinese-Barbarian from Confucianism. The clarification of Chinese-Barbarian was determined by whether it was with Yeui(禮義) or not. The Zonwangyangyi had been appeared when the Hanjok(漢族) could not have secured its legitimacy in the Chinese Continent. The Yonghabyeonyi was taken advantage of Sinicizing the Barbarian. Before the war Imjinwaeran(壬辰倭亂) Chosun Dynasty (朝鮮) was comparatively independent to Myung(明) Empire. However due to dispatching reinforcement after Imjinwaeran, Chosun Dynasty had been become dependent more and more. Therefore the word Zaezozieun(再造之恩), that means a great favor for restoration, had arisen at that time. After that war the political leaders of Chosun Dynasty advocated that Myung' support was the major reason for the victory of the war. In the latter part of the Chosun Dynasty, the word of Zaezozieun had been become the most significant issue in the society. The argument of Hwayi(華夷) was a mainstream of thoughts in the latter period of Chosun Dynasty. But Chosun Dynasty's Zonwangyangyi was different from Japan's or China's. In the case of Japan or China was a exclusive nationalism, but the Chosun's was from Yonghabyeonyi. In 『Haminlok』 it shows a painful memories of the both Dynastys - Chosun and Myung. The two Dynasties were considered as one country in the sense of having a very similar cultural background. And it shows the awareness that there was no more Han cultures in Chinese Continent, and it remained only at Chosun kingdom. And it is called today Sojunghwa(小中華). Zonwangyangyi of Sojunghwa became a common sense at the time of Chosun society. And Bunam Chae Je-gong had also the same thoughts as the other people had. He disliked the Cheong(淸) Empire of Barbarian nation. But he was interested in developing economy of Cheong Empire and he also wanted to do something for his country.
