국문 초록

18ㆍ19세기 야담집에 수록된 '여성 이인담'과 '여성 성공담'은 하위 문화의 주체로서의 여성에 대한 새로운 가능성을 환기시키면서, 여성성 자체에 대한 새로운 탐구의 시선과 관찰의 세례를 허용하고 있다. 그런데 이 이야기들에서 '살림'과 '동화(同化)'의 현명한 처세가로 등장하여 자신의 능력과 자질을 사회화하는 여성 인물들은 서술자의 '이해'의 시선을 빗겨나간 채 '경이'와 '찬탄' 형식의 '몰이해'의 시선 속에 노출되거나, '찬탄'과 '기림'의 시선 속에서 희생을 강요받는 것을 발견할 수 있다. 이는 해당 서사 양식이 여성의 자기 진술 기회를 배제한 채, 야담 향유층들의 관점을 삼인칭 객관적 시점의 서술 형식으로 전달한 결과이다. 야담에서 여성의 자질과 능력은 남성을 매개로 발휘되거나 가족 구성원의 안위에 헌신하는 형태로 표현됨으로써 찬탄과 기림의 대상으로 간주되지만, 이러한 담론적 상황은 여성성에 대한 옹호라기보다는 여성성에 대한 남성적 기대와 욕망의 투영 결과로 이해할 수 있으며, 작중 여성 인물의 자기 의식이 지배 이데올로기의 시선에 통제되고 있음을 시사한다. 그러나 이와 동시에 당대의 지배 논리에 대한 반성력을 요청하는 새로운 시선이 공존하는 것은 여성성의 재발견에 대한 새로운 가능성으로서, 여성 인물의 묵시적 행동의 이면에 감추어진 여성적 음성에 대한 복원을 요청한다는 문학사적 의미를 확보하고 있다.

영문 초록

The 'story about a woman of outstanding stature' and the 'story about a successful woman' of yadam in 18ㆍ19C are awaken woman's possibility as a subordinate subject, and show a new one's gaze and observation about the feminity. In the 'story about a woman of outstanding stature', there is appeared the woman who has eminent talent and distinguished capacity. They have some ability of foresight and sense of recognition about man. Those stories are reflected woman's desire about understanding and adjusting the current of the times. They make an appearance in those stories as wise women who know the secret of success in life. They contribute to family's fortune and happiness with their own ability and potentiality, not to themselves. But they are exposed themselves to the narrator's lack of understanding point of view in forms of 'wonder' and 'admiration', or are forced to make sacrifices in their 'commendation'. It is due to the third person objective point of view in yadam. Such narrative form makes away with woman's own statement. It is transmitted by the writer's, editor's and receiver's point of view in yadam. Woman's talent and distinguished capacity are showed through the man' actions or represented in forms of dedication to family. By the way, such discourse situations express about wishes and desires of man rather than man's consent to feminity. Also it suggest that woman' self-consciousness is controled by dominative ideology's eye. But, just by these reasons, the narrative discourses which describe the woman's potential talents and human's own ability irrespective of sex and social position, are consideres as cultural clues that it need to search for redefinition about 'human' in those times.
