<鸎鳩鶩訟臥渴先生傳>의 풍자양상과 작가의식

국문 초록

본고에서는 청성잡기 소재 <따오기 노래자랑>에 나타난 풍자 양상을 살펴보고, 이것이 <앵구목송와갈선생전>에 와서 어떻게 변형되었는지, 이를 통해서 이 작품이 새롭게 드러낸 의미는 무엇인지 알아보았다. 기존 연구에서 지적되었던 것처럼, 청성잡기 소재 <따오기 노래자랑> 이야기는 ‘부정한 뇌물 수수를 통한 부당한 판결’을 비판하는 데 작품의 초점이 놓여 있으면서 동시에 작중 인물 모두를 풍자하는 모습을 보여주고 있었다. <앵구목송와갈선생전> 역시 기본적인 구도는 『청성잡기』 소재 <따오기 노래자랑> 이야기와 같다. 그렇지만 여기에 ‘문벌 자랑’ 이야기를 더 첨가하여 각 등장 인물들을 당대 중인층을 포함한, 지배계급을 대표하는 인물로 변형시켰고, 이들이 보여주는 허장성세와 ‘동질감’을 바탕으로 한 결탁 등을 통해 당대 지배 계급에 속한 그 어느 누구도 사회를 올바르게 이끌어갈 만한 자격을 갖고 있지 못함을 꼬집었다. 이 작품에서 작자는 물질적 이해다툼만으로 가득 찬 이 사회를 올바르게 이끌어 가기를 당대 어느 누구에게도 기대할 수 없는 현실, 그리고 그러한 현실 속에서 정신적 가치는 퇴색한 채 노골적 편들기와 물질적 이해다툼만이 남아 있는 현실의 무게에 짓눌린 채, 방향적 지표를 잃어버린 작자의 절망감을 표출하였다. 그리고 여기에는 욕망과 이해가 철저하게 대립하는 현실에 대한 냉철한 인식이 바탕에 깔려 있다.

영문 초록

This study presents the results of an investigation into the satire patterns of A Song Contest among the Ibis in Cheongseongjapgi, how they were changed in Aenggumoksongwagalseonsaengjeon, and what new meanings were revealed in the work. As mentioned in the previous study, A Song Contest among the Ibis in Cheongseongjapgi focuses on the criticism of "unjust rulings by dishonest bribery." In the work, every one of the characters is satirized. Aenggumoksongwagalseonsaengjeon follows the basic structure of A Song Contest among the Ibis in Cheongseongjapgi and further adds a story of "boasting noble families," changing the characters into the individuals representing the ruling class of the times including the middle class between the nobility and common people. Depicting their conspiracy based on bluff and "homogeneity," the author sneers at the reality that no one from the ruling class is qualified to lead the society in the right direction. The author also reveals the reality that no one deserves the expectation that he will lead the society that's full of conflicts of material interest among the members to the right path. Under the pressure of the reality that only conflicts of material interest remain with the spiritual values deteriorated, the intellectuals have lost their sense of direction. Their despair is also well described in the work based on the author's cool-headed perception of the reality where people are confronted with each other for their own desire and interest.
