규방가사와 시집살이 노래에 나타난 여성의 자기 인식

국문 초록

이 논문은 규방가사에 드러나는 시집살이에 대한 여성의 자기 인식과 시집살이 노래를 통해 드러나는 자기 인식을 비교함으로써 강력한 가부장제 아래 존재했던 서로 다른 계급의 여성이 지닌 자기 정체성의 모습을 설명하는 데 있다. 이러한 차이를 통해 단일하게 해석될 우려가 있는 조선 후기 여성의식의 일면을 살펴볼 수 있다. 규방가사와 시집살이 노래는 조선 후기 강화된 가부장제로 인해 이중 억압을 받았던 여성들의 말하기 욕망이 반영된 여성적 말하기의 장르이다. 이들은 양반 여성과 평민 여성이라는 각기 다른 계급에서 향유된 문화적 산물이지만 동시대에 존재한 여성 작가군에 의해 만들어진 문화적 산물이라는 점에서 공유점을 가진다. 이러한 공유점을 근거로 양자가 지니는 차이를 드러낼 때 조선 후기적 상황에서 존재했던 여성적 자기 인식의 다른 양상을 드러낼 수 있다. 이러한 목표를 수행하기 위해 권영철의 『규방가사』와 『한국구비문학대계』에 수록된 작품들 가운데 시집살이를 소재로 한 작품들을 중심으로 여성의 자기 인식 표현들을 살펴보았다. 그 결과 규방가사 속 화자는 자신의 정체성을 남성적 자아와 견주어 인식하는 반면 시집살이 노래의 화자는 출가 전 딸로서의 정체성을 중심으로 자신을 인식하고 있다는 사실을 발견하였다. 규방가사에 나타나는 여성으로 태어남 즉 여성적 자아에 대한 부정의식은 시집살이 노래에서는 나타나지 않았는데 이는 치열한 자아 간 갈등 속에서 결국 규범적 자아를 따라가는 규방가사 속 화자와 달리 시집살이 노래 속 화자는 윤리적 갈등 즉 이념 지향적 자아와 자기 욕망적 자아간의 갈등 양상을 보이지 않는다는 점을 통해 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 차이를 통해 동시대에 공존했던 두 장르는 여성의 자기 진술이 담긴 여성적 텍스트로서 전형성을 지나지만 규방가사를 통해 드러나는 여성의 자기 인식이 이념적 지향 즉 양반적 정체성을 중심에 두고 었는 반면 시집살이 노래 속 자아는 오직 일하기 위해 존재하는 개체로서 스스로를 인식하고 있으며 이러한 의식은 출가 이전인 딸 시절로의 회귀를 꿈꾸는 퇴행 지향의 일변을 드러내기도 하였다.

영문 초록

This study is designed to explain the aspects of self-identity owned by the women of different classes under the powerful patriarchal system by comparing the self-awareness of women revealed in Kyubang gasa and Folk song . It is through these differences that this study will take a look at the aspects of women's self-awareness in the late Joseon dynasty which may be interpreted in a uniformally fixed way. Joseon ladies Kyubang gasa and Folk song on their married life at their in-laws are a genre of female expression reflecting their double-repressed desire for speaking under the strengthened patriarchal system of the late Joseon dynasty. They were culturally produced by the women of the nobility and those of the lower class, but they had one thing in common: both of them were created by a group of women living in the same age. The researcher think that the different aspects of female self-awareness in the Joseon dynasty are to be depicted by displaying their differences on the basis of their common ground. With this in mind, the researcher compared the expressions of women's self-awareness expression by focusing on their works on their married life in their in-laws among the works included in Kweon Yeong-cheol's 'Kyubang gasa' and 'An Outline of Korean Oral-tradition Literature'. As a result, this survey shows that the speakers in the Kyubang gasa recognize their self-identity in comparison with male self. whereas the speakers in the Folk song on their married life at their in-laws base their identity as their self before their marriage. The women's self appearing Kyubang gasa in the Joseon dynasty didn't show itself in their songs on their married life on their in-laws. Unlike the speakers in the Kyubang gasa who finally followed the normative self in the midst of fierce self conflict. those in the latter didn't display any ethical conflict between the ideological self and the desire-based self. With these differences, two genres existing in the same age have a typical character as female texts containing the women's self-statement. The women's self-awareness revealed in the Kyubang gasa was based on the self-identity of the nobility, whereas the self in the Folk song on their married life at their in-laws regarded itself as workaholics whose awareness of the reality revealed the women's intention to get back to their maiden period before their marriage.
