현대도예의 회화적 표현 연구

국문 초록

1950년대 추상표현주의 도자의 발생 이후 현대도예는 새로운 표현을 통한 고유의 조형영역을 구축하기 위해 다양한 시도를 계속하고 있다. 도예 본연의 형식을 파괴하는 것은 물론 흙과 불에 의한 물성의 탐구, 모뉴멘탈리티의 추구 및 설치작품에 이르기까지 미술의 모든 영역과 교감하고 있다. 또한 채색안료와 표현기법의 발달은 장식에 머물렀던 표면처리의 한계를 넘어 '예술적 표현'으로 발전하게 하였다. 본 연구에서는 현대도예의 다양한 특징들 중에서 특히 회화적 표현의 경향을 중심으로 고찰하였다. 논문의 도입부에서는 20세기 작가들에 의한 회화성의 촉발이유를 서술하였으며 이어 입체조형과 드로잉의 관계 및 조형적 당위성 및 가치의 순서로 고찰하여 이론적 근거를 규명하고자 하였다. 중심부에서는 본 연구의 논지와 부합되는 5인의 작가를 선정하고 각각의 형식과 내용이 어떤 특징을 갖고 있는지 분석하여 새로운 조형으로서의 가능성을 타진하고자 하였다.

영문 초록

Since the outbreak of Ceramics Abstract Expressionism in the 1950s, contemporary ceramics continues various attempts to build its own sculptural territory through a new representation. Contemporary ceramics interacts among all ranges of art forms through destroying the original format of ceramics, exploring the property of clay and fire, seeking the monumentality, and installation works. Also, the development of painting pigments and expressive techniques assisted the decorative surface treatment to develop into "artistic expression". In this study, the various feature of contemporary ceramics, especially the trend of pictorial representation is mainly considered. The very beginning of the study discusses about precipitating cause of pictorialism which occurred by 20th century artists. Discussion on the relationship between 3-D sculptures and drawings, and sculptural validity and its values follows in order to establish the theoretical basis. The 5 chosen artists who match the main thesis of this study and their working format and contents are analyzed in the body part to search for possibility of new formative features.
