아동의 그리스도교 종교적 경험

국문 초록

제2차 바티칸 공의회 문헌 중에 「계시헌장」에서는 "구원의 역사 안에서 하느님께서 이루신 업적들은 가르침과 그리고 말씀들로 표현된 사실"(DV 2)들을 통해서 인간의 언어로 제시된다고 말했고, 이것에 대해서 인간은 그들의 구체적인 역사 속에서 활동하시는 하느님의 체험 가능함을 알 수 있게 되었다. 그렇다면 인간적인 경험과 더구나 종교적인 경험(혹은 체험)이 부족한 아동들의 경우에는 어떻게 하느님의 초대에 응답하고 그러한 만남을 경험할 수 있을까? 그것은 일반적으로 가정에서 부모로부터 받게 되는 신앙교육과 본당에서의 주일학교 교육을 통해 어느 정도 가능할 것이라는 기대를 하게 하지만, 유아와 아동에 대하여 부모와 본당 교리교사들의 이들 대상에 대한 깊이 있는 연구와 이해가 부족하다면,「어린이 미사 지침서」가 말하고 있는 그들의 선천적인 종교성(capacitatis religiosae sigularis, 2항)을 발견하는 일은 쉽지 않을 것이고, 또, 그에 따른 그들을 위한 신앙교육의 방향성과 방법은 이러한 대상이 받아들이고 경험할 수 있는 정도와 많은 차이를 가지게 될 것이다. 이에 유아로부터 아동으로 성장함에 따라 어떻게 그리스도교 종교적 경험이 가능하고, 발전하며, 교리교육의 현장에서도 중요하게 인식되는지에 관한 물음은 중요하게 여겨진다. 이러한 물음으로부터 종교적 경험과 그리스도교 종교적 경험의 일반적인 핵심 내용을 통해 그리스도인들이 갖는 종교적 경험에 대해서 살펴보았고, 과연 아동(만 7세부터 12세 정도의 초등학생)은 그리스도교적인 환경 속에서 그 종교적 경험이 가능한가에 대한 물음과 그들이 종교 심리학 관점에서 인지적ㆍ정서적인 발달을 거치면서 하느님에 대한 이해와 부모와의 관계 속에서 얻고 경험하게 되는 그리스도교 종교적 경험의 중요성과 그러한 경험들이 아동들에게 실제로 전례적인 삶 안에서 어떻게 표현되고 발전하는지 살펴보았다. 이 과정에서 아동에게 있어서의 그리스도교 종교적인 경험은 이미 성인들처럼 그러한 경험들을 종교적인 차원에서 경험하고 분석하며, 심화하여 그 경험에 대해 재해석을 하는 차원의 것이라 쉽게 말하기가 어려운 것이었다. 왜냐하면, 아동의 인지적, 정서적인 한계 때문에 성인들이 가지는 경험을 받아들이고 해석하는 데에 어려움을 가질 수 있기 때문이었다. 하지만 유아로부터 아동으로 성장하는 과정에서 아동이 가지게 되고, 종교적인 환경 속에서 경험하게 되는 인지적ㆍ정서적ㆍ종교적 표현적인 변화들을 통해 그들이 -부모의 신앙적인 큰 도움과 함께- 그들 나름의 방식으로 최선을 다하여 그리스도교 종교적인 경험을 하고 있다는 것을 알 수 있었고, 그것이 교리교육과 전례적 교육(양성)적인 측면과도 밀접하게 연결되어 아동의 그리스도교 종교적 경험의 중요성을 간과할 수 없음을 알 수 있었다. 또한, 그러한 가능성은 두 분야에서의 대상을 이해하는 것에 대한 탁월한 방향성을 제시하고, 내용 설정과 방법론의 선택에서도 중요한 참고가 될 것으로 기대할 수 있었다(물론 이러한 분야에서 근본적으로 하느님의 은총과 함께하는 아동의 신앙적 성장에 관한 필수적인 요인을 절대적으로 인정함을 전제로 한다). 끝으로 교리 교육적 학습 안에서와 같은 그리스도교 종교적 실천 안에서의 정서성과 감각들의 중요성은 그의 기원으로부터 출발하여 전통 안에서 나타나게 되는데, 그것은 전례 거행과 기도, 성가, 상징적인 표현들, 친교의 장 등을 이해하게 하고 그러한 표현들과 경험들 안에서 아동은 그리스도교 종교적 경험이 가능해지며, 그들의 '전체적 성장'에 있어서도 중요성을 가지게 된다. 또한, 이러한 시각 안에서 아동의 교리교육과 더불어 전례적 양성은 상징적 경험들의 진지한 촉진으로부터 그 지지(支持)를 이끌어낼 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

One of the documents of the Second Vatican Council, 'Dei Verbum' (DV) points out "the deeds wrought by God in the history of salvation manifest and confirm the teaching and realities signified by the words" (DV2), in which man can understand that he can experience God who lives and acts in the history of mankind. Children to some degree have a lack of this human and religious experience. With this in mind, how is it possible for them to respond to an invitation and encounter with God? This process is generally anticipated through family education and catechism classes. However, if either one's parents or catechists have a lack of true understanding of children or of serious study of their faith, they may find difficulty in exercising their 'innate religiosity'(capacitates religiosae sigularis n.2) which is mentioned in "Directorium de Missis cum pueris." Also, there would be a huge distance between the method of Christian education, course of their own faith and a level that children can receive and experience. Therefore, since there is a biological and psychological development of children, it is important to examine how it is possible for them to have Christian religious experiences, and how it can develop and be understood in the context of catechesis. From this question, we look into the religious experience that a Christian has through the essence of religious experience. We discuss children, who are between 7 to 12 years old, and their possibility of religious experiences in the Christian environment. We also describe the importance of Christian religious experience that children have through the development of affective and cognitive abilities, especially through their understanding of the concept of God and relationship with their parents from the point of view of religious psychology. We consider how these experiences can truly be expressed to children in the liturgical life and sacramental life. This can be difficult, since for children in this process, the Christian religious experience is like an adult who reinterprets their own experience, analysis and deepening of the religious dimension. Since children have certain limitations of intelligence and sentiment, they may find some difficulties in understanding and interpreting adults. In their development (children growing from infant to child), the children however, have experience like the teaching and the emotional and religious expression they receive in their religious environment with the help of their parents, but they also put in their own effort from all of these so that they can have their own Christian religious experience. Since these experiences are strongly influenced by catechetical and liturgical training, it is not right to ignore children's own Christian religious experience. This possibility, moreover, presents the excellent orientation towards the understanding of children in two areas (infant and child), and it also gives an indication of choosing the best method and content. Finally, the importance of affect and the senses in the Christian religious practice which is demonstrated by tradition and its origins, helps one to understand prayer in the liturgy, symbolic expression, singing hymns, and friendship in the community. From these experiences, children can learn and experience the Christian religious experience. In this aspect, catechesis and liturgical formation of children can draw support from a serious promotion of symbolic experiences. However, it will also take a great part of their life to grow and mature in many of these areas.
