「삼위일체론」 안에 나타난 심리학적 삼위일체론의 유비들

국문 초록

아우구스티누스의 작품들에는, '내면화'라는 용어로 요약될 수 있는 일관된 패턴을 발견하게 된다. 즉 성인의 학문적 방법론이나 그 탐구 대상이 점진적으로 외부 사물에 대한 분석으로부터 인간 정신현상이라는 내면(interioritas)으로 환원되는 과정을 접하게 된다. 이는 삼위일체 하느님을 이해하기 위한 유비를 찾는데, 그와 가장 유사한 인간의 의식을 연구하는 '심리학적' 성찰이 무엇보다도 효율적이며 확실한 방법이라는 성찰로부터 비롯되었다고 본다. 성인의 연구에는, 의식의 외부사물세계에 대한 분석을 중심으로 펼쳐지는 존재론적 방법론의 시기와, 인간의식으로 환원되는 심리학적인 단계로의 전이과정이 보인다. 첫 번째 과정에서는 주로 전통적인 형이상학을 바탕으로, 지혜서 11,21을 분석하여 얻어진 삼중구조(척도-수-질서)에 대한 해설이 주를 이룬다. 이러한 존재론적 관심이 「고백록」을 중심으로 점진적으로 인간의식 내면에로 옮겨가는데, 특별히 기억과 시간에 대한 분석은, 초월적 진리의 제한적 앎이 인간의식에 존재한다는 확신을 굳건하게 해 주었다. 그 결과로, 삼위일체의 유비로서 첫 번째 모델(존재-앎-의지)이 「고백록」 13,11,12에서 도출되었다. 그러나 「고백록」의 모델은 삼위일체 하느님이 갖는 여러 특성들을 설명하기에는 다소 부족했다. 특별히 각각의 위격이 갖는 관계성을 표현하기에는 어려움이 있었기에, 「삼위일체론」에서는 다른 연구들을 지속했고, 그 결과로 '사랑하는 주체-사랑받는 대상-사랑자체'와 '정신-앎-사랑'과 '기억-지성-의지'의 삼중구조들을 이끌어 냈다. 이들 삼중구조들은 주로 인간 정신을 분석하는 과정을 중심으로 심화되었는데, 그것은 인간기억 안에 하느님에 관한 제한적인 앎이 신비로운 방식으로 존속하고 있다고 보았기 때문이다. 하지만 인간이 갖는 이 유사함에 있어서, 아우구스티누스는 단 한 번도 초월적 진리자체이신 하느님과 동일시하지 않는다. 성인에게는, 하느님을 이해하고 사랑하기 위해서 인간은 하나의 통로의 역할만으로서 제시될 뿐이다. 이 간극은 언제나 '원형과 흔적'의 관계처럼 제한적인 유사함만으로 남는다고 생각했기 때문이다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 인간이 갖는 제한적인 유사함은, 우리를 하느님으로 이끌고 사랑하도록 하는데 무엇보다도 확실한 도움을 준다는데 커다란 의의가 있다. 왜냐하면, 인간만이 피조물 중에 그 무엇보다 가장 근접하는 초월의 흔적을 소유하고 있기 때문이다.

영문 초록

We can find a key word, that is the 'interiorizzation', through which it is possible to explain the main theory of St. Augustine in his works: his researching method and studying object go gradually toward the inner part of the human spirit's psychological phenomenon from the analysis of the exterior world. It is the reason that the saint saw the best way in the studies on the psychological phenomenon of the human soul for the analogy to understand 'Deus Trinitas'. There are three steps in the way for his analogy: ① the step of the ontological method. The studying was focused on the outer world, using the traditional concepts of the ontology and the theological interpretations about Sap. 11,21. ('mensura-numeros-ordo') ② the second step that the focus moved from the ontological point to the psychological state, was presented for the first time in Conf. 13,11,12 ('esse-nosse-velle'). Especially, the analysis of the memory and the time confirmed the knowledge that the transcendental truth is located at the inner part of human spirit even though it is very limited. ③ But the model of the "Confessions" is short of explaining some properties of the Trinity. Especially, it is so difficult to explain the concept of 'relatio' that three persons of Trinity possess mutually. Therefore, Augustine needed to have another analogy and continued to develope this point in "De trinitate": 'amans-amatus-amor', 'mens-notitia -amor' and 'memoria-intellegentia-voluntas'. These analogies were deepened in the process of analysis of the human soul because he understood that the limited knowledge about 'Deus Trinitas' is present in the area of the memory. Nevertheless, Augustine didn't identificate the analogy ('memoria- intellegentia-voluntas') with God who is 'Veritas ipsa' even though the human soul has the similarity to God. The human soul is presented as the simple instrument to love and to know God, because the relation between the analogy and true God remains so different, just like the gap between 'prototypus' and 'vestigium'. But it is very significant that human soul's limited 'similitude' lead us in the very secure way to understand and to love God, because only the human soul among the creatures has the very close 'vestigium' to 'Deus Trinitas'.
