바오로 서간의 공동(共同) 발신자

국문 초록

바오로는 특정한 공동체나 교회 내의 그룹, 혹은 개인을 향해 편지를 써 보내면서 협력자들과 함께하고 있음을 밝힌다. "나는 혹은 우리는 ~에 대해 하느님께 감사드립니다."라는 감사의 말과 함께 편지의 본론 혹은 메시지를 이어간다. 편지의 마지막 부분서는 다양한 협력자들, 신자들, 혹은 공동체에 안부를 전한다. 바오로는 자주 편지의 공동 발신자들로 여겨지는 협력자들의 이름을 언급한다. 테살로니카 전서에서는 '실바누스'와 '티모테오'가 발신자 바오로와 동등한 위치에서 소개된다. 코린토 전서에서는 공동 발신자로서 '소스테네스'의 이름이, 그러나 후서에서는 '티모테오'의 이름이 거론된다. 티모테오는 옥중서간에서도 편지의 공동 발신자로 나타난다. 실명으로 거론된 공동 발신자들은 사도행전과 바오로의 편지들에 의하면 사도와 함께 사도적 소명과 선교적 사명에 투신한 이들이다. 그들은 바오로와 신앙 안에서 강하게 결속되어 있었으며 지역 공동체들과도 연계되어 있었다. 또한 그들은 하느님의 일꾼들로서 주님의 일을 수행하였고, '그리스도 예수님 안에서 지켜야 하는 원칙들을 상기시켜' (1코린 4,17b) 주기 위해 지역 공동체에 파견되었다. 그러나 로마와 갈라티아인들에게 보낸 편지에서는 공동 발신자들이 실명으로 언급되고 있지 않다. 로마 1,1-6에는 공동 발신자에 대한 언급이 전혀 없다. 반면에 갈라 1,1-2에는 익명의 한 그룹이 공동발신자로 나타난다. "나와 함께 있는 모든 형제"라는 표현은 일반적인 의미에서의 그리스도인들이 아니라 편지의 공동 발신자로서 소개된 협력자들을 의미한다. 바오로의 편지들에 나타나는 공동 발신자들이 그리스-로마 시대에 상용되던 서기 혹은 비서로서의 역할을 수행하고 있었는지 아니면 공동저자로서의 편지 작성에 개입하였는지에 대해서는 확실하게 말하기는 어렵다. 바오로 편지의 마지막 인사말이 그리스-로마의 편지 양식과 유사성을 지닌다고 하더라도 바오로가 서기에게 받아쓰게 했거나 비서를 통해 편지를 작성하였다고 볼 수 없기 때문이다. 그러나 공동 발신자들은 '하느님의 협력자들'로서 사도와 함께 수신자들에게 인사를 전한다. 또한 편지에서 실명으로 거론된 공동 발신자들은 수신 공동체들과 특별한 관계를 맺고 있었다. 그들은 '십자가에 못 박히신 그리스도'를 선포하는 증거자들로서 바오로 곁에서 그와 함께 편지의 구성과 작성에 의견을 공유하고 나눴을 것이다. 그래서 바오로는 편지에서 특별한 내용의 메시지를 전달하기에 앞서 자신의 글이 개인적인 생각에 의한 것이 아니라 공통적인 그리스도인의 신앙과 삶에 관한 것이라는 보편적인 인상을 주고자 했다. 이와 같은 이유로 그는 편지의 공동 발신자로 언급한 협력자들과 함께 자신들의 선교활동에 대한 생생한 기억을 메시지의 기본요소로 삼으려는 의도를 가지고 있었다.

영문 초록

Paul revealed his co-workers when he wrote to a certain community, a church group or an individual. Before taking up the main subject, he started with the greetings like "I or we --- thanks to God on--", then continue writing main topic or message. At the end of the letter he gave his regards to various co-workers, believers, or faith community. Paul frequently mentioned co-workers' names presumed as joint addressers. In the First Letter to the Thessalonians, 'Silvanus' and 'Timothy' were introduced on the same level like Paul. In The First Letter to the Corinthians, 'Sosthenes' and in The Second Letter to the Corinthians, 'Timothy' mentioned as to joint addressers. 'Timothy' also named as to joint addresser in Paul's letters in jail. According to "Acts" and the other Paul's letters, these co-workers were plunged into apostolic and missionary vocation with Paul. They strongly linked together with Paul in faith and related to the local communities. They also accomplished God's work as 'God's servants', they were dispatched to the local community "to remind you of my ways in Christ(Jesus)(1 Cor. 4, 17b)." But in The Letters to Romans and The Letters to Thessalonians, joint addressers' real names were not mentioned. In Romans 1, 1-6, there was no reference about joint addressers. On the other hand, in Galatians1, 1-2, there was an anonymous group as joint addressers. The expression of "all the brothers who are with me" does not mean general Christians but mean co-workers who are introduced as to joint addressers. It is hard to say those joint addressers in Paul's letters as to clerk or secretary who commonly performed clerical work in Greco-Roman era, or really intervened in writing. Even though the farewell greetings has similarity to Greco-Roman letter form, it is still hard to say that Paul let the secretary write down the letters or have them write the letters. Those joint addressers greeted to the addressee as to 'Paul's co-workers in God'. Those joint addressers in their real names had special relationship with the addressee communities. As the witness to proclaim "Christ crucified" (1Cor. 2,3), they might share their ideas, subjects when Paul wrote the letters. So Paul tried to express universal ideas about common faith and Christian life, rather than his personal thought before entering to main subjects. In this reason, Paul intended to make his vivid memories about missionary activities with those mentioned joint addressers as to main topics of his message.
