Evidence for the Potential Use of Curriculum-Based Measures in Writing for Screening: A Review of the Literature

국문 초록

본 연구는 쓰기 교육과정 중심 측정을 쓰기 장애 위험아동을 선별하기 위한 도구로 사용할 수 있는 증거를 살펴보는 데 목적을 두고 있다. 쓰기 교육과정 중심 측정 도구의 타당도와 분류 정확도를 중심으로 총 12개의 연구를 살펴보았다. 연구 결과에 따르면 쓰기 교육과정 중심 측정은 이미 타당도가 검증된 여러 가지 쓰기 평가도구(표준화된 쓰기 평가, 교사의 총체적 평정, 쓰기의 질 측정 도구)에 대해 충분한 타당도를 나타내었다. 이는 쓰기 교육과정 중심 측정이 학생의 전반적인 쓰기 수행능력을 나타내는 타당한 지표로 사용될 수 있음을 뒷받침 한다. 또한 쓰기 교육과정 중심 측정이 쓰기 위험 아동을 정확하게 판별하는 정확도에 대한 긍정적인 증거를 발견하였다. 본 연구에서는 초등학교 고학년과 저학년에 따라 충분한 타당도와 분류 정확도를 나타내는 쓰기 교육과정 중심 측정 도구의 종류를 논의하였다. 연구 결과가 향후 연구와 실제에 미치는 영향에 대한 함의를 제시하고 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this review was to examine evidence for the potential use of curriculum-based measures of writing (CBM-W) as screening tools. A total of 12 studies were reviewed with particular attention to the extent of validity coefficients and classification accuracy of CBM-W. Findings indicated that CBM-W has sufficient validity with established criterion measures of writing including standardized assessments, teachers’ holistic ratings, and qualitative measures, and supported its use as a valid indicator of students’ overall writing performance. Preliminary promising evidence indicated that CBM-W accurately identified students at risk in writing. Types of CBM-W prompts showing adequate technical features for older and younger elementary students are discussed. Implications for research and practice are presented.
