국문 초록

본 연구는 노인의 스마트폰 정보 활용(이용수준, 이용도움정도)과 스마트폰 이용성과가 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향을 탐구하여 노인들의 삶의 만족도 향상을 위한 방향을 제시하는 데 목적을 두고 있다. 본 연구의 자료는 스마트폰이용자 장노년층 317명으로부터 수집되었으며, 자료수집도구로는 자기기입식 질문지를 사용하였고, 가설검증을 위해 위계적 회귀분석방법을 사용하여 경로분석을 실시하였다. 삶의 만족도에 대한 선행변수들의 직접효과, 간접효과 및 총 효과에 근거하여 영향을 살펴본 결과, 스마트폰 이용수준과 스마트폰 이용도움 정도의 두 개의 변수는 삶의 만족도에 직접적으로 영향을 미칠 뿐만 아니라 스마트폰 이용성과를 통해 삶의 만족도에 간접적으로도 영향을 미치는 반면에 스마트폰 이용성과는 삶의 만족도에 직접효과만 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 결론으로 정보격차를 해소하기 위한 정부정책 등이 논의되었다.

영문 초록

While the overall level of Internet access is robustly high, there are still some disparities in smartphone ownership and autonomy mainly according to education and income levels. Guided by activity and resource theories, this study aimed to investigate whether the elderly's information use on smartphones influences their life satisfaction. We used data from 317 respondents, aged 55-80 and residing in the southern area of Seoul in 2012. SPASS 18.0 program was used and hierarchical regression analysis and path analysis to estimate the effects of smartphone information use and performance on life satisfaction among the elderly. Consistent with previous studies, findings indicate that participants with higher level of information usage, usefulness, and performance on smartphones show more positive life satisfaction. The result of this study also proves that the more resources such as education, income, jobs and health the respondents have, the higher life satisfaction they show. Based on the total effects on life satisfaction, this study concludes that information usage level and usefulness on smartphones have not only a direct influence but also an indirect influence through performance of smartphone use. However, the performance of smartphone use has only a direct influence on life satisfaction. In conclusion, we synthesize available findings about socio-economic characteristics of smartphne users, explore data about the widening mobile divide, and discuss strategies for bridging the digital gap.
